City of Pleasanton Satisfaction Survey Proposal
Page 4
questionnaire. Before commencing interviewing, FM3 will secure the approval of the
appropriate City representative on the final version of the questionnaire.
As mentioned above, in addition to tracking numerous questions from the 2007 Pleasanton
resident satisfaction survey, FM3 recommends updating the survey to include a broader set of
questions that can be implemented as a tracking survey in future years.
FM3 looks forward to working with the City to identify the City's current priorities for a resident
survey. Below are some ideas about what the current study might track from the 2007 poll:
1. Assessing Pleasanton residents' evaluation of local quality of life and slue concerns:
➢ Do residents regard Pleasanton as a good place to live and raise children?
➢ What is the most serious issue facing residents of Pleasanton?
➢ Perceptions about the safety of Pleasanton.
2. Gauging residents' satisfaction with City services and determining residents'
perceptions of City government:
➢ How do residents rate the job being done by City government and key City
departments?
➢ General, as well as specific ratings of police, fire, street repair, parks, recreation,
libraries, etc.
3. Identifying satisfaction with local policies as well as policy preferences, for example:
➢ Is there enough open space?
➢ Is Pleasanton well-maintained?
➢ Does Pleasanton have enough affordable housing?
➢ Should schools be a top priority?
4. Frequency of use of City services and activities in the City:
➢ How often do you use City parks?
➢ Do you exercise outside?
➢ Do you ever watch City meetings on the Internet or on cable televisior?
5. Demographic questions for cross-tabulation and creating a community profile:
➢ Gender
➢ Race/Ethnicity
➢ Age
➢ Education
➢ Income
Fairbank,
Maslin,
Maullin,
Met_&
Associates
FM3
