In its brief existence, PCRT has produced six exceptional shows. Its production of
"Chicago" was described by Pat Craig of the Contra Costa Times as, "a sassy, sexy and
sometimes sultry production... a sensual delight" and its July 2012 production of
"Hairspray" received 10 nominations for direction, choreography and individual
performances in a local musical from BroadwayWorld.com.
The proposed Service Agreement includes the production of three (3) shows annually.
The upcoming 2013/14 season includes; "Little Shop of Horrors" (fall 2013), "Chorus
Line" (winter 2013) and "Music Man" (spring 2014). The program cost of $150,000 for
FY 2013/2014 is consistent with FY 2012/2013 program costs of $'150,000 and as
indicated, staff anticipates that ticket revenues will offset program costs. As indicated,
the recommended Service Agreement is for a period of one year with the option for a
total of two (2) one year extensions. Any extension will be based on quality of service,
cost and feedback from participants. The Service Agreement is based on the City's
standard form and is consistent with other service agreements with other City programs.
Given the very high quality of Pacific Coast Repertory Theatre's work and their
commitment to mentoring younger actors, the Screening Committee and Civic Arts
Commission are requesting that the City Council approve the Services Agreement for
theatrical production services to the Pacific Coast Repertory Theatre for FY 2013/14.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approved tty:
Susan Andrade-Wax Emily Wagner Nelson Fialho
Community Services Director Finance Director City Manager
Attachment:
1. Services Agreement with Pacific Coast Repertory Theatre for Theatrical
Production Services
2. Scope of Services Agreement with the Pacific Coast Repertory Theatre
Page 3 of 3
