The segment from Inglewood Drive to Stoneridge Drive had a critical speed of 33 mph.
This segment has limited access points, controlled cross streets and no accidents in the
last two years. The recommended limit is 35 mph.
Deodar Way
This roadway consists of four lanes (2 westbound and 2 eastbound) separated by a
landscaped median. The critical speed is 28 mph which supports a 30 mph speed limit.
The recommended speed limit is 30 mph. The low accident rate coupled with no side
access on the roadway support this recommendation.
Dublin Canyon Road
Both segments of Dublin Canyon Road were reviewed. The segment between Foothill
Road and Laurel Creek Drive registered a critical speed 8 mph higher than the posted
limit. This segment of roadway is posted with a 30 mph limit and consists of four lanes
divided by a landscaped median for the first 1500 feet west of Foothill Road and then
reduces to two undivided lanes for the remainder. The critical speed is 38 mph,
supporting a 40 mph limit. The road's alignment contains four sharp horizontal curves
and has midblock pedestrian crossings. This segment also recorded a higher than
average accident rate. For these reasons, the recommended limit is 35 mph.
First Street
Both segments of First Street were reviewed with one segment registering a critical
speed 5 mph higher than the posted limit. This segment of First Street is between
Stanley Boulevard and Ray Street/Vineyard Avenue and consists of four lanes divided
by a raised median. This segment is posted with a 35 mph limit and registered a critical
speed of 40 mph. The low accident rate supports the recommended limit of 40 mph.
Gibraltar Drive
Both sections of Gibraltar Drive were reviewed with the northern segment (Hopyard
Road to Stoneridge Drive) registering a critical speed of 40 mph. This segment is
posted with a 35 mph speed limit and consists of four lanes divided by a landscaped
median. The low speed-related accidents, coupled with the lack of any uncontrolled
cross streets on both segments, support the recommended limit of 40 mph.
Inglewood Drive
This roadway consists of two lanes divided by a center left hand turn lane. The posted
speed limit is 30 mph. The critical speed was 38 mph supporting a 40 mph speed limit.
The large pedestrian volume traveling to and from the shopping center and nearby
schools support the recommended speed limit of 35 mph.
Johnson Drive
Three of the four segments of Johnson Drive were reviewed with one having a critical
speed 6 mph higher than the posted limit. This segment consists of two undivided lanes
and is located between Stoneridge Drive and 1,900 feet north of Commerce Circle. The
posted limit is 35 mph and a critical speed of 41 mph was recorded. The low accident
rate, coupled with the lack of uncontrolled cross streets, support the recommended limit
of 40 mph.
Page 5of10
