BACKGROUND <br /> The adopted Staples Ranch EIR identifies a number of roadway improvements required <br /> to mitigate the impacts of the Staples Ranch development, including the opening of <br /> Stoneridge Drive to El Charro Road. The most significant of these, which are included in <br /> the City's approved CIP, and their status, is as follows: <br /> 1. Installation of Stoneridge Drive traffic signals at Newton Way, Guzman Parkway, <br /> and Trevor Parkway (CIP 115036).Status — Contract awarded and construction in <br /> progress with completion scheduled for summer 2013. <br /> 2. Installation of noise attenuating pavement on Stoneridge Drive from Trevor <br /> Parkway to Santa Rita Road (CIP 125024).Status — This project will be part of <br /> the overall Annual Street Resurfacing program and is scheduled for later this <br /> summer. <br /> 3. Construction of intersection improvements at Stoneridge Drive and Santa Rita <br /> Road (CIP 115034) Status — This project is the subject of this report. <br /> A summary of the improvements to be constructed as part of the recommended contract <br /> is as follows: <br /> . Construction of a Santa Rita Road northbound dedicated right turn lane onto <br /> Stoneridge Drive. <br /> . Conversion of an existing eastbound curb lane on Stoneridge Drive to a free right <br /> turn lane onto Santa Rita Road, and conversion of the second existing right turn <br /> lane to a Stoneridge Drive eastbound thru lane. <br /> . Installation of new intersection traffic signals and signage. <br /> . Creation of a bus stop pull out on Santa Rita Road just south of Stoneridge Drive <br /> for southbound busses. <br /> • Installation of Iron Horse Trail improvements on the east side of Santa Rita Road <br /> to connect to the trail improvement project currently being undertaken by the <br /> East Bay Regional Parks District and the existing Iron Horse Trail entryway at <br /> Santa Rita Road. <br /> . Installation of sidewalks, ramps and improvements to assure the intersection is <br /> compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). <br /> • Adjustments to landscaping and median islands. <br /> . Addition of bike lanes on north and southbound Santa Rita Road <br /> . Preservation of the existing "Hacienda Business Park" monument sign and <br /> Redwood trees on the south/east corner of Stoneridge Drive. <br /> Page 2 of 4 <br />
