IN THE <br /> AMOUNT OF $1,025,523.40, FOR THE STAPLES RANCH STONERIDGE <br /> DRIVE AND SANTA RITA ROAD INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS <br /> PROJECT, CIP NO. 115034 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> Staff is recommending the award of a construction contract to Carone and Company, <br /> Inc., in the amount of $1,025,523.40 to complete the Staples Ranch Stoneridge Drive <br /> and Santa Rita Road Intersection Improvements as detailed in the previously approved <br /> City Four Year Capital Improvement Program (CIP) project No. 115034. The project <br /> consists of roadway improvements identified in the adopted Environmental Impact <br /> Report for the Stoneridge Drive Specific Plan Amendment/Staples Ranch Project <br /> (Staples Ranch EIR) at the Santa Rita Road/Stoneridge Drive intersection including <br /> roadway widening to accommodate free right turn lanes, new traffic signals and <br /> signage, additional turn and thru traffic lanes as identified in the report and its <br /> attachments. This project also incorporates a bus stop pullout (CIP 105034) located in <br /> the project area. This report also includes an update on other City related Staples <br /> Ranch development improvements. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve plans and specifications for this project. <br /> 2. Award the construction contract to Carone and Company, Inc., of Concord, <br /> California, in the amount of $1,025,523.40 and authorize its execution by the City <br /> Manager. <br /> 3. Authorize the Director of Community Development to approve and execute required <br /> contract change orders to address unanticipated project conditions for a not-to- <br /> exceed amount of $102,550 (10% of the contract). <br /> 4. Authorize the transfer of the total $150,000 from the Bus Pullout — Santa Rita Road <br /> at Stoneridge Drive project (CIP 105034) to the recommended intersection project <br /> (CIP 115034). <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> Funding for this project is consistent with the 2011/12FY adopted CIP project 115034 <br /> which anticipates a project cost of $1,770,000, and CIP project 105(134 for the Bus <br /> Pullout-Santa Rita Road at Stoneridge Drive funded at $150,000. Attachment 2 details <br /> total project funding. <br />
