This segment of the trail is
located between Sunol Boulevard and the Alameda County Transportation Corridor.
The existing pedestrian pathway has been closed due to instability and erosion of the
south channel wall. The relocated asphalt trail will be eight feet wide plus a
decomposed granite shoulder. The trail will be placed along the north side of the
channel close to Valley Avenue. The relocated trail will be placed far enough to the
north of the drainage channel to prevent erosion of the new trail segment.
Relocating the path to the north side of the channel will also allow the slope of the
channel to be adjusted to provide stability and allow improved access to facilitate
maintenance activities within the channel. The new trail segment will have a buffer of
trees and shrubs separating the trail from Valley Avenue, but will be easily visible from
Page 3 of 5
