FINANCIAL STATEMENT
There will be no significant fiscal impact for the City as a result of initiating the Task Force
and the Council Subcommittee as support for these entities will be provided by City staff
members.
BACKGROUND
Following the direction received from the City Council at its May 15, 2012 meeting, staff
initiated recruitment for the ad hoc East Pleasanton Specific Plan Task Force.
Recruitment consisted of: notices on multiple dates in the Pleasanton Weekly, The
Independent, The Valley Times, and the Tri-Valley Herald; an item on the front page of
the City's website; an item in PleasantonPatch.com and a press release to the local
media outlets. No nomination was received from the Stoneridge Park neighborhood, and
a subsequent mailing to the neighborhood did not yield any applications. A second
mailing directly to the residents of the Stoneridge Park neighborhood is currently in
process. A nomination will be provided to the City Council at a later date for review and
ratification.
TASK FORCE DESIGNEES
At its May 23rd meeting, the Planning Commission designated Commissioners Jennifer
Pearce and Kathy Narum to participate on the Task Force. The Parks and Recreation
Commission designated Brad Hott le at its June 14th meeting. The Housing Commission
designated John Casey at its meeting on June 215`. The active homeowners
associations (Ironwood, The Village at Ironwood, and Danbury Park) all provided
nominees, and applications were received from the Autumn Glen/Heritage Valley
neighborhood and the Mohr/Martin neighborhood. The two major property owners and
Zone 7 Water Agency also provided nominees.
These designees, as well as City Council designees, are listed above, pending
confirmation by the City Council.
TASK FORCE ALTERNATES
The May 15th City Council agenda report stated task force members may select
alternates to attend meetings in their absence. The Parks and Recreation Commission
selected Jack Balch as its alternate. The Housing Commission selected Joseph Butler
as its alternate.
An alternate would adhere to the same roles and responsibilities as a Task Force
member and would be invited to attend a task-force meeting if the applicable
representative were unavailable to attend. In the Task Force members' absence, the
alternate would be able to provide input and recommendations in the same manner as
other task force members.
TASK FORCE ROLE
Preparation of the East Pleasanton Specific Plan is likely to take at least 18 months. The
first meeting of the East Pleasanton Task Force is scheduled for August 2, with
Page 2 of 3
