City Ordinances Establishing the Human Services <br /> Commission and the Housing Commission <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> At your August meetings, the Human Services Commission and Housing Commission each <br /> approved preparation of a report with information concerning the potential for merging the two <br /> commissions. The minutes from both meetings are included as Attachment 1. At the meetings, <br /> the Commissions identified the following scope of information to be included in the report: <br /> • Prepare a draft listing of duties for a combined commission <br /> • Review current and anticipated work load of both commissions <br /> • Provide survey information regarding commission structures for housing and human services <br /> oversight in other communities <br /> • Provide an outline of how commissioner phasing/attrition would occur <br /> • Address concern that existing commissioners are adequately trained to handle the duties of <br /> the new commission <br /> • Provide a listing of positives and negatives resulting from combining the commissions <br /> Page - 1 - <br />
