Commission has indicated it no longer wanted to engage in the review process, staff prepared
the draft for your review. As indicated at your November meeting, the bulk of the ordinance
includes "boiler plate" information that is included in all commission ordinances. As such, the
primary focus is the duties section which set forth the overall responsibilities of the commission.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
As part of this process staff is requesting commission on the following:
• Identify a preference or feedback regarding Options 1 through 4 regarding an approach to
transitioning members to the new commission. While a preference is not required,
identifying one may assist the City Council if it intends to move forward with the transition.
• Provide comment on the proposed listing of duties for a new commission as detailed in the
draft ordinance.
• Provide a preferred name for the commission. As mentioned, staff has assumed the "Housing
and Human Services Commission" but other names may be more appropriate.
• Identify any additional staff work to be completed that would assist your commission in fully
reviewing this matter.
• If appropriate, take action indicating your support or opposition to a merger. (Note, if
additional information is required, this action may occur at a subsequent meeting.
Additionally, be advised that a recommendation is not imperative but would be welcomed by
the City Council.)
As stated previously, it should be noted that the schedule is not driving this project and any
additional steps or information requested should be articulated. Additionally, staff request
direction if your Commission requests additional time to review information submitted to date.
Page - 5 -
