Attachment 5 <br /> THE CITY OF <br /> Youth 1 11 <br /> Commission Minutes <br /> �L£�S�4NTONo IaC <br /> Gingerbread Preschool, 4333 Black Avenue <br /> March 14, 2012 - 6:00 p.m. <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> Chairperson Cody Ellgas called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. <br /> Pledge of Allegiance <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance to the flag was recited. <br /> Roll Call <br /> Commissioners Present: Lauren Ancora, Phoebe Brown, Aditi Jhanwar, Judy Lu, Shannon <br /> Malindzak, Kara Matsune, Catherine Mayo, Emma Rigl, Erica Utikal, <br /> and Chairperson Cody Ellgas. <br /> (Diane Hadley and Kaitlyn Mallie arrived after Roll Call) <br /> Commissioners Absent: Libby Kolar. <br /> Staff Present: Becky Hopkins, Recreation Supervisor; Jeff Bretzing, Police <br /> Lieutenant; and Edith Caponigro, Recording Secretary. <br /> MATTERS BEFORE THE COMMISSION <br /> 4. Recommendation to Allocate Community Grant Funds for Fiscal Year 2012/13 <br /> Ms. Hopkins reviewed with the Commission the Community Grants Program and advised that a <br /> total of six (6) applications were received for funding in the Youth Category. She advised that a <br /> synopsis of the projects and their funding requests was included in the agenda report, and the <br /> Commission should consider these requests and after receiving presentations from the <br /> agencies, should make funding allocations. The Commission was advised that a total of <br /> $40,000 had been allocated in the FY 2012/2013 General Fund Budget, and an additional <br /> $3,243 in unspent funds from FY 2011/2012 Budget for the Youth Category of the Community <br /> Grant Program. <br /> Chairperson Ellgas opened the meeting for presentations from agency representatives. <br /> Tri-Valley Haven, Anti-Bullying Project — Funds Requested: $7,500 — The Commission was <br /> informed that this project would go hand-in-hand with other programs. Recent studies indicate <br /> there is a link between bullying and domestic violence. Tri-Valley Haven hopes to have <br /> approximately 60 Pleasanton students participate in a survey for this project. <br /> Youth Commission Minutes <br /> March 14, 2012 <br /> Page 1 <br />
