The anticipated number of staff needed to complete such a project. <br /> • The student age groups the agency would be working with. <br /> • How Tri-Valley Haven will select students for this project. <br /> • Could the project be done at school assemblies rather than at individual classes. <br /> Amador Livermore Valley Historical Society, Traveling Trunk: Local History— Funds Requested: <br /> $4,000 — The Traveling Trunk would be an educational mini-museum designed to supplement <br /> the study of local history for students in Pleasanton schools. The trunk, packed with original and <br /> replica artifacts and teacher reference materials would be made available to teachers at no-cost <br /> so they could use as an educational tool for students studying City of Pleasanton history at the <br /> 3rd Grade level. <br /> Commission comments and questions asked of the representatives included: <br /> • Where and how the Traveling Trunk would be used by teachers and students. <br /> • How funds requested would be used, i.e. staff time, materials cost, etc. <br /> • Whether the program would eventually become self-sufficient. <br /> • The number of teachers that have already signed up to participate in the project. <br /> . The cost involved for adding an additional trunk. <br /> Child Care Links, Youth — Funds Requested: $7,500 — funds requested are for underserved <br /> youth in the 12-18 year age bracket and would be used to provide innovative programs to meet <br /> the needs of Pleasanton youth in this age bracket. The project would include a Career Youth <br /> Faire, and help by providing volunteer and career path connections. <br /> Commission comments and questions asked of the representatives included: <br /> • Whether career path would also provide counseling to youth. <br /> • What would be provided at the Career Youth Faire? <br /> • How would be project reach aspects of the Youth Master Plan? <br /> Axis Community Health, Teen Drug and Alcohol Recovery Program — Funds Requested: $7,280 <br /> — thanked the Commission for supporting this program in the past year. Advised that if <br /> allocated, the funding requested would be used for the purchase of a Smart Board that would let <br /> counselors have the capability of presenting vital information to youth who are more <br /> technologically savvy, and allow them to present curriculum and allow for involved youth to be <br /> more engaging. <br /> Commission comments and questions asked of the representatives included: <br /> • Requests for additional information about how a Smart Board would actually work in the <br /> program. <br /> • Whether funding requested would be used only for the purchase of the Smart Board. <br /> • The full cost of the Smart Board. <br /> • The number of students Axis anticipates being able to serve in the program. <br /> Abbie 4-H, Bernal Property 4-H Farm Complex — Requested Funds: $7,500 -- advised that Abbie <br /> 4-H requested the funds to aide in paying for the site design of a 4-H farm on land that has <br /> already been assigned in the Bernal Property Specific Plan for "agricultural use" and an <br /> Youth Commission Minutes <br /> March 14, 2012 <br /> Page 2 <br />
