• Assured that funding was also being requested from the City of Livermore. <br /> Eden I&R, Mitch Reitman — Funds Requested: $17,500 for 2-1-1 Alameda County — Mr. <br /> Reitman thanked the City and the Commission for its past support of the 2-1-1 program. He <br /> provided information about the program that supplements and complements services currently <br /> being provided by the City of Pleasanton. Mr. Reitman discussed issues people experience in <br /> accessing services because of language barriers, the screening process used by 2-1-1, and role <br /> of the program in helping to access jail populations. The Commission was provided information <br /> about several Pleasanton residents recently helped through 2-1-1 and was advised that funding <br /> is based on a per capita share. <br /> Commission comments and questions asked of the representative included: <br /> • Thanked Mr. Reitman for providing the additional information that had been requested by <br /> the Commission at the last meeting. <br /> Open Heart Kitchen, Linda McKeever — Funds Requested: $25,000 — Pleasanton Senior Meal <br /> Program; $10,000 — Food Storage Project for Local Nonprofits; and $10,000 — Pleasanton Meal <br /> Program Trinity — thanked the Commission for its past support, especially with helping the <br /> agency to spearhead the Food Storage Project. Ms. McKeever advised that she is currently <br /> working with City engineers on a required ramp at the Food Storage Project, and a contract for <br /> the Measure A funds has been forwarded to Mr. Erickson and Ms. Yurchak for processing. She <br /> advised that the community wants this project and that several new agencies have approached <br /> her about becoming involved. <br /> Commission comments and questions asked of the representative included: <br /> • Thanked Ms. McKeever for taking leadership on the Food Storage Project. <br /> • The requirement of a ramp at the Food Storage Project for wheelchair accessibility and <br /> the difficulties in engineering such to meet code requirements. <br /> • The number of persons now cycling to the Trinity Meal Program. <br /> • The number of low-income individuals now attending the Pleasanton Senior Meal <br /> Program. <br /> • HUD criteria being 20% of extremely low or no income individuals, and the balance being <br /> low income. <br /> • Average cost being $1.20/meal for seniors. <br /> Chairperson Rowland opened the meeting for additional agency presentations. <br /> Legal Assistance for Seniors, France) D'Andrea — Funds Requested: $15,000 for Free Legal <br /> Services for Low-Income Seniors — Ms. D'Andrea indicated that she was taking exception to the <br /> lack of recognition given in the Alternative A recommendation provided by staff. She provided <br /> information about the services provided to seniors and believes their organization is unique and <br /> receiving no funding would be a burden to the senior community. <br /> Easter Seals Bay Area, Aaron Buckley — Funds Requested: $15,000 for Easter Seals Bay Area <br /> Community Inclusion Group — thanked the Commission for its past support and advised that <br /> funds requested are for a Lead Teacher who will provide job search training for adults with <br /> disabilities.
