TASK 1—PRELIMINARY DESIGN SERVICES 1.1 Project Kick-Off Meeting Coordinate and hold a project"kick-off' meeting with City Staff and the Consultant team to develop the design intent of the conceptual aspects of the project and to establish overall project goals, objectives and timelines.This meeting will also be used to facilitate cross-communication and begin value engineering discussions. 1.2 Land Surveying Review existing record information for the Project site and establish site survey control (including field survey of found site control, monuments,etc.) Obtain supplemental field topographic information to locate visible features(precise top of curb grades, utility inverts,valve and manhole locations and rim grades, precise tree locations, etc.) not previously obtained by the City's on-call surveyor as required for design effort and as required to conform improvements to existing features. Potholing—Pothole existing underground utilities(Kinder Morgan High Pressure Gas Line and Existing Joint Trench Facilities) including field survey of exposed utilities to tie-out horizontal and vertical locations(includes sub-consultant work by potholing contractor). Potholing will occur at locations where existing improvements could have a potential conflict with proposed improvements. 1.3 Design Base Review record maps, plans and construction documents(as provided by City and other sources). Prepare electronic base map utilizing the City provided topographic information as well as supplemental survey control and field surveys to provide an accurate depiction of Project site limits. Design base will define existing property lines sufficient to provide an approximate delineation of right-of-way acquisition required and to allow for the preparation of draft plats and legal descriptions. 1.4 Geotechnical Studies 1.4.1 Geotechnical Investigation:Consultant will provide a geotechnical investigation report for the proposed intersection improvements including: • Review pertinent published literature and map and reports in our files; • Obtain a Zone 7 Water Agency Drilling Permit; • Obtain an encroachment permit from the City of Pleasanton (we assume no charge since this is a City project); •• Mark the boring and core locations and contact USA; • Provide traffic control during the field investigation; • Utilize an underground locating subcontractor to clear boring and coring locations; • Drill and log 3 borings with hollow stem augers on a truck mounted drill rig; • One boring will be up to 30 feet deep and include groundwater information; P:\19639\office\contracts\2012-03-02_M ac Kay&So m ps_Exh i bit-A.doc
