M&s Jobit 19639.010
Exhibit A
Page 3 of 9
• One boring will be up to 10 feet deep for geotechnical information;
• One boring will be drilled for sampling soil for corrosivity testing per PG&E
requirements.
• The borings will be backfilled with grout per agency requirements. Excess drill cuttings will
be placed in the southeast corner of the intersection where fill will be imported for the road
widening;
• The pavement will be cored with the drill rig in two locations to obtain existing pavement
section information (thickness of AC and AB). We will assume the subgrade has an R-Value
of 5. These coreholes will be patched with fast setting concrete;
• Laboratory testing including in-situ moisture and density,Atterberg limits,and single point
consolidation;
• Engineering analysis.
1.4.2 Import Soil Testing: It is our understanding that import soil for road widening will be from a
stockpile of soil owned by the City of Pleasanton. We propose to collect 4 soil samples from the
stockpile and combine them into a single sample. The following laboratory tests will be
performed on the single, combined sample:
• Environmental testing consisting of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons Gas, Diesel and Motor
Oil, Pesticides, PCB, Heavy Metals plus hexavalent chromium, and Volatile and Semi-Volatile
Organic Compounds;
• Corrosion testing per PG&E requirements for buried transformers consisting of resistivity,
pH,chloride, sulfate, and sulfide. These test results will be included in a separate letter(see
Corrosion Testing below);
• Geotechnical testing consisting of gradation and Plasticity Index. These test results will be
included in the geotechnical investigation report.
1.4.3 Corrosion Testing:The soil samples obtained from the geotechnical boring and the stockpile
described above will be tested for corrosion per PG&E standards, and will consist of resistivity,
pH, chloride, sulfate, and sulfide. These test results along with the soil stockpile test results will
be summarized in a separate letter that can be provided to PG&E.
Deliverables: Geotechnical Report
1.5 Joint Trench Services
Preliminary Investigation—The Consultant will make an initial site visit to determine the existing
facilities to be relocated and the extents of new service to be provided. Consultant shall contact Client's
representatives to obtain preliminary plans and computer files. Consultant will obtain from PG&E,
telephone, and cable company information needed to begin initial engineering process.
Intent Drawing—Upon receipt of information received through the preliminary investigation portion of
the project,the Consultant will forward to the various utilities and agencies having jurisdiction a drawing
depicting the proposed joint trench. The drawing will show the proposed relocations of the existing
joint trench facilities and the location of the proposed joint trench along with the service stub locations
to the required service points. Included with the submittal drawing will be copies of the various
improvements plans and computer files as required by the various utilities.
Budgeting—Prepare budgets for contractor construction costs and utility contract costs/ refunds.This
item will be updated with submittal sets.
P:\19639\off ice\contracts\2012-03-02_M ac Kay&so m ps_Exh ibit-A.doc
