BACKGROUND <br /> At its September 6, 2011 meeting, the City Council approved a process for participation <br /> on a Downtown Hospitality Guidelines Task Force. This task force will develop a set of <br /> guidelines that addresses key elements in creating a positive and responsible <br /> environment for downtown vitality. <br /> Task Force Focus <br /> As a foundation for its work, the task force will consider the Responsible Hospitality <br /> Institute's six key elements to a successful hospitality district. These are the elements <br /> upon which the Pleasanton Downtown Association based its Downtown Hospitality <br /> Plan: <br /> • Public safety <br /> • Music and entertainment <br /> • Multi-use sidewalk <br /> • Quality of life <br /> • Transportation <br /> • Venue safety and security <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> Task Force Composition <br /> Based on the approved member selection process, the following individuals have been <br /> identified as representatives to the task force: <br /> Planning Commission Kathy Narurn <br /> Planning Commission Jerry Pentin <br /> Pleasanton Downtown Association Michael Hosterman <br /> Pleasanton Downtown Association Melanie Sadek <br /> At-large Jon Harvey <br /> At-large Peter MacDonald <br /> At-large Christine Bourg <br /> At-large Lori Rice <br /> At-large Kathleen Dlugosh <br /> At this meeting, the City Council is asked to select its two representatives to the task <br /> force. <br /> Schedule <br /> This process will start in late October and be completed by May 2012, with monthly <br /> meetings of the task force and additional meetings scheduled if needed. Staff has <br /> scheduled approximately six public meetings between October and March 2012. In <br /> addition, the process will include one meeting before the PDA Board of Directors (March <br /> 2012) and Planning Commission (April 2012), then the draft will be brought to the City <br /> Council for consideration in May 2012. <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br />
