CRIL/Housing Services for Disabled Persons — Sheri Burns — Thanked the Commission for its <br /> continued support and advised that the funds received enabled them to serve 79 Pleasanton <br /> residents. Direct housing assistance or independent living services were provided to 24 <br /> Pleasanton residents with disabilities and 54 disabled Pleasanton residents were provided <br /> disability education, advocacy, technical assistance, information and referral. CRIL is doing <br /> extended outreach and has noticed some duplication of services and is collaborating with <br /> Alameda County for providing housing and medical assistance. Ms. Burns confirmed for the <br /> Commission that CRIL providers are certified "Care Providers." <br /> East Bay Innovations/Connect University Program — Tom Heinz — Thanked the Commission for <br /> providing funds for the Connect University Program which provide help for 22 developmentally <br /> disabled residents and allowed them to address their experiences of isolation and desires for <br /> socialization through creative, interactive exercises in a supportive setting allowing them to <br /> become more engaging in the community. <br /> ECHO Housing/Housing Counseling Services — Marjorie Rocha — Services were provided to 162 <br /> unduplicated clients. Information was provided on issues relating to housing, and <br /> mortgages/payments, and guidance was provided for home seeking. Because property owners <br /> are unable to pay mortgages, ECHO needed to provide assistance relating to tenant evictions. <br /> Counseling was provided to households seeking guidance on finding housing and some clients <br /> received counseling on Shared Housing rights and responsibilities. <br /> ECHO Housing/Senior Reverse Mortgage Counseling — Cherise Baptiste — provided information <br /> about the Reverse Mortgage program. Counseling was provided to a total of eight (8) inquiries <br /> and outreach was provided to 64. <br /> Easter Seals Bay Area/Tri-Valley Community Inclusion Program — Jenifer Reeve & Aaron <br /> Buckley — Informed the Commission that the agency served 19 participants, six (6) of whom <br /> were Pleasanton residents. Five (5) participants have been able to obtain part-time <br /> employment. The agency has partnered in a new sustainable gardening activity on the <br /> Kaleidoscope site receiving support from community volunteers and allowing for participants to <br /> giveback to the community by donating produce to local non-profits and foster families. <br /> Commissioners were encouraged to visit the Kaleidoscope facility and check out the garden. <br /> Hope Hospice/Grief Support Center — Larry Lakes — During the past year, the agency provided <br /> over 200 hours of grief support to at least 120 Pleasanton residents, which included 43 one-on- <br /> one sessions, four (4) adult group sessions, three (3) children's group sessions, one (1) service <br /> of remembrance, one (1) HFA conference on grief, and five (5) community workshops. <br /> Legal Assistance for Seniors/Legal Services for Seniors — France! D'Andrea — LAS provided 140 <br /> hours of services to 31 Pleasanton seniors through once-a-month meetings at the Pleasanton <br /> Senior Center. Seniors are provided accessible and affordable legal services free of charge at <br /> the Senior Center and can also access services by calling or visiting LAS offices. Commissioner <br /> Wright asked about work with HICAP and questioned whether LAS received funds from the <br /> County for elder abuse. <br /> Neighborhood Solutions/Housing Rehabilitation Program — John Page — Neighborhood <br /> Solutions completed 12 projects, which included one (1) loan and 11 grants.
