EXHIBIT B
Scope of Hourly Work
2011-2012
Interpretive Planning:
In consultation with the City staff, ALVHS will continue to design an annual interpretive plan
that highlights one or more of the sub themes as it relates to the main theme that will compare
and contrast the three distinct time periods as appropriate. Solid interpretive planning is the
key to success in all aspects of the visitor experience at the site. This is from the moment they
set foot in the parking lot until the time they leave. This plan could include, based on needs,
goals and objectives, expected experiential outcomes, recommendations for staffing, curricula,
resources, docent training resources, additional interpretive needs such as signs, labels,
brochures, way finding aids and other considerations for program implementation. This
interpretation plan will be lived out through both active and passive forms.
ALVHS will continue to implement, update and revise the Furnishing Plan based on research
for the Alviso Adobe restoration in the three time periods that are represented by the entire
site, including the historic structures. This will include further documentation of the lives of
the people who lived there, the examination of original artifacts in other museum collections,
and a study of nineteenth-century probate inventories from Alameda County. Additionally,
secondary source research was devoted to specific aspects of the plan such as furniture,
carpeting, ceramics, and room arrangements.
ALVHS Staff time: Director: 260 hours @ $26.45/hr $6,877
Education Director: 104 hours @ $21.25/hr $2,210
Curator: 104 hours @ $21.25/hr $2,210
Total $11,297
Education Programs:
ALVHS will continue to provide evaluation services for current school programs to strengthen
the offerings that have already been produced. ALVHS will monitor programs so that they are
developed and offered to meet the needs of teachers and state curriculum standards. These
standards will be clearly outlined as a part of any promotion of these programs. ALVHS will
develop, in conjunction with the City staff, additional programs that are needed to assist
teachers in meeting their needs and that complement those programs that are offered at the
Museum on Main. The types of materials that might be produced could be teacher resource
materials and study guides both in printed form and available on a web site. We see this as a
collaborative effort that will help create a more accurate and engaging experience for students.
ALVHS will explore opportunities to expand beyond the traditional 3rd grade history-social
sciences curriculum to assist in making the programs multidisciplinary whenever that is feasible
and warranted. ALVHS will update educational materials as warranted.
