Ms. Acosta indicated that the purchase of a site would be on the next agenda. She indicated <br /> that there are numerous issues that still need to be worked out concerning the proposed site. <br /> Mayor Tarver said staff has direction in setting up a task force to try and come up with <br /> recommendations for a site. He hoped that the task force would look at other alternatives to try and <br /> get this accomplished. He would like an interim site looked at until a permanent site could be <br /> obtained. He suggested the young adults contact Commissioner Mike Sedlak as soon as possible. <br /> Julie Testa said the process to get a site is very slow and thought a simple solution would be <br /> to dump dirt on the undeveloped land at Val Vista until a permanent site could be obtained. <br /> Mayor Tarver indicated that the item is not on the agenda and could not be discussed <br /> tonight. He reiterated that staff is looking at a site and that the young adults should get in touch <br /> with Commissioner Mike Sedlak. <br /> 6. PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS <br /> Item 6a <br /> Review of the Pleasanton Public Planning Initiative (SR99:224) <br /> Deborah Acosta presented the staff report. <br /> Brian Swift gave an overview of the planning and land use issues. <br /> Sue Rossi gave an overview of the financial impact. <br /> Ms. Acosta indicated the potential impact the CAPP initiative will have on the LAVWMA <br /> pipeline extension. <br /> Michael Roush gave an overview of the legal aspects. <br /> Ms. Acosta said any interpretation of proposed initiative lead to a considerable debate. <br /> Staff has tried to outline the issues for the community. <br /> Ms. Michelotti had questions about the medium density going to R4, particularly in the <br /> downtown area and properties that would become a non-conforming use. <br /> Mr. Swift said it depends on how the initiative will be applied in actual practice and how <br /> the land use description is applied to older areas. For example the block between Division Street, <br /> Rose Avenue,Fair Street and Pleasanton Avenue has many single family detached houses on very <br /> large lots and also for apartments. The density on the single-family lots is in the 0 — 2 unit range <br /> but the apartments are in the range of 22 — 26 units per acre. The initiative does not list how this <br /> particular block is supposed to be designated under the General Plan.
