Storage development. Through the downtown, the abandoned railway is owned by the
City of Pleasanton and Alameda County and is used mainly for parking. To the south of
Bernal Avenue the railway corridor remains a vacant path (although development has
occurred on both sides of the railway). A new station would be constructed somewhere
in the downtown area along the corridor.
The South Pleasanton route, shown in blue on the map, travels along Vasco Road in
Livermore and continues south /south west through the undeveloped land to the south of
Livermore and Pleasanton. This area contains regional parks and vineyards and
consists of a combination of bridges and tunnels, which are necessary to maintain travel
speeds though the hilly landscape. The South Pleasanton alignment would remove the
existing Altamont Commuter Express station in both downtown Livermore and
Downtown Pleasanton and create a new station near 1 -680 and SR 84 in Sunol.
The California High Speed Rail Authority is seeking comments on the Preliminary
Alternatives Analysis and the remaining routes and station locations. Attached is the
City's previously written communication on this matter. City Staff continues to support
alignments which do not impact Downtown Pleasanton, including South Livermore
and /or 580/680 alignments.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approve by:
Brian Dolan Emily Wagner Nelson Fialho
Director of Director of Finance City Manager
Community Development
Attachment:
1.
