• Approved an economic stimulus program for the downtown which includes business <br />workshops, phased permitting and fee deferral, building improvement incentives, and fee <br />financing programs. <br />• Created a Downtown Wayfinding Signage program to increase awareness and guide <br />residents and visitors to downtown Pleasanton. <br />• Developed, with the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce, two annual forums to explore and <br />support innovation and entrepreneurship in Pleasanton. <br />ENHANCED MUNICIPAL SERVICES <br />• Implemented website improvements to facilitate on -line transactions, public comments, live <br />council meetings through webcasting, planning commission podcasting, social media (e.g., <br />Twitter) and enhanced access to City records. <br />• Began publication of quarterly community newsletter, Pleasanton Today, published for the <br />benefit of residents and businesses with information on current issues and on programs, <br />services and activities offered by the City. <br />• Outsourced tennis facility operations to third —party contractor (Lifetime Tennis, Inc.) to <br />improve service delivery and reduce operating expenditures for the City. <br />• Implemented citywide residential curbside recycling program with a goal of diverting 75% of <br />the city's waste stream from local landfills. <br />• Implemented new and expanded e-waste weekend for Pleasanton residents, including <br />prescription drugs and florescent light bulbs. <br />• Implemented ongoing battery drop -off program at several City facilities, including the <br />Library, City Hall complex and Operations Services Center. <br />• Purchased the Pleasanton Memorial Cemetery and within six months of acquisition, <br />renovated selected areas with benches, trash enclosures and frontage landscape, and <br />implemented annual maintenance standards. Also approved a long -term plan to <br />conservatively expand the cemetery for future plot sales. <br />• Established a Committee on Energy and the Environment to work on the City's Climate <br />Action Plan and various General Plan environmental initiatives. <br />• Approved a 361 KW photovoltaic project at the Operation Services Center. This new <br />system will save the City approximately $119,000 annually in electrical costs. <br />• Expanded senior paratransit services to include daily (weekday) fixed -route services to <br />various locations throughout the city, including downtown, senior center, medical offices <br />and ValleyCare hospital. <br />4 <br />
