Tri-Valley Water Retailers Cooperation Agreement <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />Agreement; <br /> H. <br /> <br />DSRSD, CWS, and Pleasanton share a common interest in the adequate and reliable provision of <br />water service by Zone 7; <br /> <br /> Livermore and DSRSD desire for Pleasanton and CWS to enter into this <br /> <br /> The Parties (as hereinafter defined) have a common interest in other issues <br /> affecting their water supplies including a commitment to the use of recycled water within their <br /> service areas to promote the efficient use of water. DSRSD and Livermore each own and <br /> operate a wastewater treatment plant capable of producing recycled water for beneficial uses; <br /> and <br /> <br /> I. The ability of the Parties to continue to provide adequate and reliable service to <br /> <br /> current and future residents in their service areas depends on Zone 7 engaging in a regional water <br /> planning effort that is responsive to the needs and issues of the retailers. To enable the Parties to <br /> more effectively influence Zone 7's planning and implementation efforts, the Parties by this <br /> Agreement commit to seek, and provide a mechanism to facilitate, coordinated monitoring of <br /> and input into Zone 7's regional water planning and implementation efforts. <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE, each Party to this Agreement agrees as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. OBJECTIVES OF THIS AGREEMENT <br /> <br /> The objectives of this Agreement are to ach/eve for the Parties a safe and reliable water <br />supply, to acknowledge and identify issues that the Parties have in common, to establish a forum <br />to enhance communication and cooperation among the Parties, and to initiate a process for <br />mutual and coordinated efforts of the Parties to review and influence Zone 7 policies, <br />procedures, actions, and non-actions on water supply issues of mutual concern. <br /> <br /> <br />
