BACKGROUND <br /> In calendar year 2011, Pleasanton's federal legislative strategy (in order to obtain 2012 <br /> Federal Appropriations) is being driven by a regional approach in the Tri- Valley <br /> including the cities of Danville, Dublin, Livermore, San Ramon and Pleasanton. This <br /> approach is appropriate since collective support from local, county, state, or regional <br /> officials on a project creates greater chances of success in this competitive <br /> environment. <br /> Once the Tri - Valley Mayors complete their visits with members of our congressional <br /> delegation, additional advocacy efforts will be coordinated through a contracted <br /> lobbying firm and city staff to ensure these priorities remain highly visible with federal <br /> lawmakers. <br /> CONCLUSION <br /> Staff will continue to monitor legislative issues and brief the City Council on critical items <br /> as they arise. <br /> Submitted by;, Approved by: <br /> Maria Lara Nelso Fh ialho <br /> Assistant to the City Manager City Manager <br /> Attachment <br /> 1.
