(c) "Mixed use project" means a building(s) within city limits that combines the uses <br /> of a commercial project and a residential project. <br /> (d) "Multi- family residential project" means a residential project containing more <br /> than one attached dwelling unit, including duplexes, apartments, condominiums, <br /> and townhouses. <br /> (e) "Renovation" means any change, addition, or modification to an existing <br /> building. <br /> (t) "Residential project" means any building within city limits used for living, <br /> sleeping, eating, and cooking. For the purposes of this chapter, a residential <br /> project includes assisted living facilities and senior housing. A residential project <br /> does not include hotels, motels, inns, or similar commercial enterprises wherein <br /> rooms or suites of rooms are rented for transient occupancy and are considered <br /> commercial projects. <br /> (g) "Single - family residential project" means a residential project containing one <br /> dwelling unit <br /> B. Compliance with CALGreen Tier 1 also may be achieved by: <br /> (a) alternative materials, methods of design and methods of construction as provided <br /> in Section 105A of the Administrative Code (Chapter 20.04) and CALGreen <br /> Section 101.8; <br /> (b) modifications as provided in Section 106A of the Administrative Code (Chapter <br /> 20.04), which may include, but is not limited to, allowing for the waiver of a <br /> discrete mandatory Tier 1 requirement upon the demonstration of the technical <br /> code impracticability, and subsequent compliance with CALGreen's minimum <br /> mandatory standards for that requirement, if possible; and <br /> (c) for those CA LGreen Tier 1 requirements for which verification standards have <br /> not been specified, the building official may exercise reasonable discretion to <br /> determine if such requirement has been met by other means. <br /> C. Section 305 of CALGreen is amended to delete all references to "CALGreen Tier 2 ". <br /> D. Section 305.1.2 of CALGreen is deleted. <br /> E. Section 306 of CALGreen is amended to delete the word "voluntary ", and replace it with <br /> the words "Tier 1 ". <br /> The requirements of this subsection E are intended to supplement the 2008 California <br /> Building Energy Efficiency Standards, as specified in California Code of Regulations, <br /> Green Building / CALGreen Exhibit I Page 3 of 5 <br />
