Consideration of the Draft Enel1!:V Plan for the City of Pleasanton <br /> <br />,,- <br /> <br />Mr. Scott Baker and Ms. Robin Eisenwinter displayed a PowerPoint presentation outlining the <br />Draft Energy Plan. <br /> <br />Mr. Baker noted that the Energy Advisory Group have been meeting since June 2001, and was <br />formed to provide community input to staff. The EAG worked on two identified tasks: <br /> <br />1. The Energy Plan, a long-term strategy to develop and implement beneficial <br />energy policies and programs; and <br />2. The Generator Siting Ordinance (GSO), a guiding land use document to address a <br />wide range of generator types and sizes in relation to zoning. <br /> <br />Ms. Eisenwinter noted that there were currently seventy people on the EAG, and staff had <br />invited everyone who had expressed a concern about energy to staff over the last few years. Staff <br />added members from the Economic Vitality Committee and the Chamber of Commerce to join <br />the group. Staff also placed public notices in the newspaper, inviting the general public to join <br />the EAG. The EAG meets twice a month, and attendance varies between twelve and thirty <br />people. A core group of approximately fifteen people who attend almost every meeting, <br />including two representatives from PG&E, James Paxson (Hacienda Business Park), a current <br />and former Plarming Commission member, as well as several Pleasanton residents. <br /> <br />Mr. Baker noted that the EAG modeled its strategy and work plan from the Rocky Mountain <br />Institute's Community Energy Workbook. The Workbook set up a process for developing a <br />comprehensive energy plan, and was a valuable resource for the EAG.
