-

Chairperson Maas advised that Kevin Schoenfeld's letter regarding Sunol Boulevard had
been received, and asked whether the matter would move forward.

Mr. Roush noted that the City Council scheduled a special meeting for August 22, 2002,
at 6:30 p.m., in which a number of traffic issues would be discussed. The results ofthe
Sunol Boulevard metering was the primary item, and the neighborhoods along Sunol
would be noticed.

In response to an inquiry by Commissioner Arkin, Mr. Roush stated that he believed the
metering was working, and that the traffic seemed to flow better down Sunol Boulevard
to First Street.

Commissioner Roberts noted that Mr. Schoenfeld had called her, and he was not aware
that the City was trying to eliminate cut-through traffic. The residents of the Mission Park
area were furious, because that was their route in and out of town, and they felt very
impacted.

In response to an inquiry by Commissioner Kameny, Wes Jost replied that the traffic
process regarding the "No Left Turn" signs was normally conducted by the staff Traffic
Committee, which met monthly. An item could be submitted by staff, the Police
Department, or the residents.

r"'

In response to an inquiry by Commissioner Arkin, Mr. Roush replied that the Marque
matter would be heard by City Council on September 3, 2002. He noted that since the last
meeting, the owners said it was quieter, although Theresa Pimental did not believe it was
quieter.

In response to an inquiry by Commissioner Roberts, Mr. Roush replied that there had
been a strong police presence at the site, and that CHP and Dublin police officers had
been brought in to patrol Hopyard. He understood that the increased police presence may
have contributed to the calmer situation.

Commissioner Roberts felt badly that she was the only person to submit an item for
discussion at their meeting with the Council. She believed the Commissioners were more
prepared for the Plarming Commission meeting than with the City Council, and suggested
that they discuss that matter further for next year.

Commissioner Roberts requested a reference guide to the various types of roof slopes and
types. Mr. Iserson replied that would be possible.

Commissioner Roberts advised that she would not be in attendance at the next meeting.
She questioned why the Allen Roberts Grove item was agendized so quickly. Mr. Roush
stated that he had reservations that it would be on the August 28 agenda. In his
discussions with the City Manager, there were some collateral issues that she had
concerns about.

PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES

August 14,2002

Page 21
