PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS (Continued) <br /> <br />b. <br /> <br />PRZ-14, City of Pleasant on <br />Application to allow 42-inch tall fences in residential front and street side yard areas with <br />City approval by amending Chapter 18.84 (Site, Yard, Bulk, Usable Open Space, and <br />Landscaping Regulations), of Title 18 (Zoning), of the Pleasanton Municipal Code. To <br />be applied Citywide. The Planning Commission will also consider the Negative <br />Declaration prepared for the project. <br /> <br />,..- <br /> <br />Jerry Iserson presented the staff report, describing the proposed Code amendment. He noted that <br />this modification will introduce a lot more flexibility into the Zoning Ordinance and will allow <br />the City to accommodate residents who want taller, open fences. He advised that staff <br />recommends that the Planning Commission recommend approval ofthis amendment. <br /> <br />Chairperson Maas noted that a memo from staff regarding this matter was distributed to the <br />Planning Commission this evening. <br /> <br />In response to an inquiry from Commissioner Kameny, Mr. Iserson advised that the fences could <br />be installed up to the sidewalk, because the fences are open and would still allow the view of the <br />landscaping behind the fence. Discussion ensued regarding the solid fence that has been <br />installed by Mr. Chestnut. <br /> <br />Commissioner Roberts noted that there a number of houses in the area of Vineyard and Bernal <br />which she believes are in the Remen Tract that have solid wood fencing along the street. Mr. <br />Iserson advised that if these homes are in the Remen Tract they would not be subject to the <br />City's zoning rules.
