Convenience market/fast-food restaurant/alcohol sales <br />Commissioner Harvey - already commented. <br />Commissioner Sullivan - would like to see a neighborhood store; no fast food restaurant; <br />supports Chief Neal's discretion regarding allowing alcohol sales. <br />Commissioner Kameny - no alcohol to be sold; would like to see something other than the <br />fast food restaurant, perhaps a coffee shop, bakery or upscale market <br />Commissioner Maas - no fast food, perhaps a bakery; convenience market should be more <br />of a neighborhood grocery; no problem with alcohol sales <br />Commissioner Roberts - already commented on the fast food restaurant; no problem with <br />the beer and wine sales <br />Commissioner Arkin - no problem with the alcohol sales; preference would be a <br />"Starbuck-type" of use which is a little more up-scale, rather than a fast food establishment <br /> <br />Building Design <br />Commissioner Arkin - architectural design similar to that of the building proposed by Brad <br />Hirst on Sunol Blvd.; wants to see a really good visual of what the canopy will look like <br />and he wants the canopy designed so that it will "disappear;" wants to see visuals from all <br />of the adjacent streets and the apartments <br />Commissioner Roberts - wants to see visuals from the second-story windows of the houses <br />that are directly behind the site, as well as from across the street and approaching from 680; <br />wants to see a softer architectural design (brick would be fine) <br />Commissioner Maas - wants to see visuals of the proposed project with the apartments in <br />the background; wants to see a softer architectural design (more of the neo-traditional <br />flavor) <br />Commissioner Kameny - concurred with other commissioners <br />Commissioner Sullivan - concurred with other commissioners; noted that the canopy of the <br />gas station downtown is not a problem; likes the quaint look of the downtown gas station <br />Commissioner Harvey - concurred with other commissioners, as well as Commissioner <br />Sullivan's comments about designing the gas station to look like an old gas station; the <br />landscaping could help soften the look by installing a few large trees <br /> <br />/""' <br /> <br />PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES <br /> <br />March 27, 2002 <br /> <br />Page 16 <br />
