There was consensus to defer this issue to the discretion of the staff and applicant. 3. Whether the redesigned landscaping at the Arlington entrance is acceptable in preserving southbound views of the lake from Sunol Blvd. There was consensus to request a photo montage with new landscaping, depicting views driving south on Sunol Blvd., north of Arlington. 4. Whether the median trees should be stopped before Arlington Drive. Commissioner Roberts: Usually the neighbors want those trees to mitigate sound and break up the view of the road. Commissioner Harvey: Suggested a hedge, rather than trees, but this would not be a good idea if it causes discontinuity with what already exists. There was consensus to provide more spacing on the trees, per staff. 5. Whether the natural, oak tree landscaping should replace the doubletree row of sycamores southerly of Arlington Drive. There was consensus to support this change. ,-- 6. Whether the building's architecture is acceptable for the proiect, including its: a. cornice treatment There was consensus to support the architect's preference. b. exterior wall expression There was consensus to defer this to be worked out by the staff and the applicant. c. color scheme Commissioner Roberts: for LEED certification it has to be light. Commissioner Arkin: O.K. with what the applicant is proposing. There was consensus to support the lighter color scheme (option # I). d. southerly elevation of Building A Commissioner Roberts: Would like to see this come back. Commissioner Arkin: Would not support any type of mirror or painting on this building. He is looking for something that is subtle and fits into the beauty of the architecture. O.K. with the letters "AIB," but does not want the painted screen. Commissioner Harvey: Three options: hide it with landscaping; do nothing and just have the end of the building show; or highlight and showcase the end of the building. Get some options for highlighting the end of the building. Commissioner Sullivan: Would like a photo montage driving north on 1-680 at a location closer to the building.
