Mr. Cannon advised that most concrete <br />tilt -up construction looks pretty much the same. He noted that the Signature Headquarters has <br />colors and texture that are quite nice. He stated that the kind oftilt-up that is fairly smooth and is <br />painted is not appropriate for this location. He advised that style is separate from materials. <br /> <br />Commissioner Maas stated that this building will not work on this site. Chairperson Sullivan <br />stated that he feels the majority ofthe Commission wants something more compatible with the <br />streetscape and the adjacent buildings on that side of the street. Commissioner Maas advised that <br />she wants to see the visuals that depict that the setbacks are appropriate. <br /> <br />Commissioner Arkin stated that he is happy with this workshop. He noted that he would like to <br />see the applicant come back with sketches of two or three proposals, and not detailed plans like <br />they presented this evening. He asked that they come before the Commission as soon as they are <br />ready, so that the applicant will not be further delayed. <br /> <br />Commissioner Harvey clarified that the Planning Commission is asking the applicant to put a <br />little more weight on the Hopyard orientation. <br /> <br />6. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> <br />a. <br /> <br />PCUP-34, Gymboree Play and Music (Bernadette Bouwkamp) <br />Application for a conditional use permit to allow the operation of "Gymboree Play and <br />Music" in Suite 9, an existing, 2,851-square-foot tenant space in the Oak Hills Shopping <br />Center located at 5460 Sunol Boulevard. The zoning for the property is CoN <br />(Neighborhood Commercial) District. <br /> <br />,r- <br /> <br />Mr. Pavan presented the staff report, providing an overview of the proposal. He noted that staff <br />feels there is sufficient parking for this use and that appropriate noise control measures can be <br />implemented so that there is no adverse impacts on the tenants. <br /> <br />THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS OPENED <br /> <br />COMMENTS FROM THE APPLICANT <br /> <br />Ann Crew of Daniel MacDonald AlA Architects, 1595 Grant Avenue, Suite 200, Novato, CA <br />94945, represented the applicant. She noted that they feel the staff report is very clear and that <br />they accept all of the conditions of approval. <br /> <br />In response to an inquiry from Commissioner Arkin, Ms. Crew advised that the restrooms are <br />"boys" and "girls" restrooms, as required by the Building Code. She clarifed that the restrooms <br />are lockable and they do not have stalls. Discussion ensued regarding the labeling of the <br />restrooms.
