<br />PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED <br /> <br />/"""' <br /> <br />The Commission reviewed the proposed list of projects and made the following comments: <br /> <br />. Amador V alley Community Park Renovation - Commissioner Arkin advised that this park <br />currently has outdated equipment. Mr. Bocian noted that the City is funding the Amador <br />Park Master Plan and it will take at least one year to the complete the Master Plan. He <br />further noted that after that time, the types of improvements needed will be defined. <br />. Century House - In response to an inquiry from Commissioner Arkin, Mr. Bocian noted that <br />the Century House is one of the most used buildings and there are some structural problems <br />with the facility. <br />. Street Tree Planting/Replacement Program - Commissioner Arkin advised that trees and <br />vegetation add a great deal to the community and that the $15,000 cost is reasonable. The <br />Planning Commission agreed to rank this as a high priority. Chairperson Sullivan <br />requested that staff explore the use of the Urban Forestry Fund for this type of project. <br />. Additional Downtown Parking - Commissioner Arkin stated that he would like to see this <br />project ranked as a "double H" project. Chairperson Sullivan stated that he disagrees, and <br />feels this item should be removed as a high priority project, noting that the harder it is to <br />park, the more likely there is to getting good public transportation Downtown. <br />Commissioner Maas stated that she feels it should remain a high priority. Mr. Bocian noted <br />that this is currently a funded project and funds are being set aside to address Downtown <br />parking. <br />. City HalllCommunity Center -In response to a question from Chairperson Sullivan, Mr. <br />____ Bocian advised that funding would be provided from public facilities fees and from the <br />general fund. Commissioner Arkin stated that he would object to spending $28 million for <br />an elaborate city hall. He voiced support for a facility to meet the office space needs. <br />Discussion ensued regarding the temporary facilities currently being used to house City staff. <br />Commissioner Maas stated that there is a need to increase the office space for employees in <br />that currently staff members share space meant for one employee. She further noted that she <br />feels a community center is needed to provide instructional facilities in the most effective <br />manner. Commissioner Arkin noted that he would support expanding office space for staff <br />to have their own offices. <br />. Fire Stations - Commissioner Arkin expressed support for expending funds to ensure that the <br />Fire Stations are adequate. <br />. Golf Course - Commissioner Arkin expressed support for this item. <br />. Mission Hills Park - Commissioner Arkin expressed support for the this item, noting that the <br />cost is only $16,000. <br />. Bernal Property Improvements on City Property - Commissioner Arkin stated that this is a <br />high priority, but he understands that there is a process that is being followed. <br />. Central Irrigation Svstem Phase 11l - Chairperson Sullivan requested that all options for <br />using recycled water be explored. <br />. Expansion of the Gingerbread Preschool- Commissioner Arkin advised that he feels this <br />should be a high priority.
