Pleasanton Gateway— Environmental Checklist <br /> 5. CULTURAL RESOURCES <br /> Environmental Setting <br /> The subject site is not located in an area identified as having any site - specific historical or <br /> geologic features or resources. <br /> The site was subject to a field investigation conducted in 1988 to determine the presence <br /> and extent of buried Native American resources. That field investigation identified an <br /> archaeological resource, designated as CA -Ala -554, in the approximate area east of 1 -680 <br /> near Bernal Avenue, with the presence of fire - altered rock, bone and shell fragments, <br /> flaked stone artifacts, and bird -bone tool remains. The 1988 field investigation was <br /> updated by the project applicant most recently in 2008. All field investigations were <br /> conducted in conformance to the California Environmental Quality Act and with a Native <br /> American Representative designated by the California Native American Commission <br /> present during all sub - surface investigations. <br /> Standards of Significance <br /> For purposes of this environmental document, an impact is considered significant if the <br /> proposed project would: <br /> • Cause a substantial change in the significance of a historical or archeological <br /> resource as defined in the CEQA Guidelines Section 15064.5; or, <br /> • Directly or indirectly destroy a unique paleontological resource or site or unique <br /> geologic feature. <br /> Less Than <br /> Significant <br /> Potentially Impact With Less Than <br /> Significant Mitigation Significant No <br /> Issues Impact Incorporated Impact Impact <br /> Cultural Resources <br /> Would the project: <br /> a) Cause a substantial adverse change in the L LJ rX <br /> significance of a historical resource as defined in <br /> §15064.5? <br /> b) Cause a substantial adverse change in the X L <br /> significance of an archaeological resource pursuant to <br /> §15064.5? <br /> c) Directly or indirectly destroy a unique Paleontological _1 I LXJ L <br /> resource or site or unique geologic feature? <br /> d) Disturb any human remains, including those interred C] X I L <br /> outside of formal cemeteries? <br /> Page 30 of 52 Pleasanton Gateway Initial Study August 2, 2010 <br />
