Easter Seals Bav Area/Tri Valley Community Inclusion Program (Jen Reeve) — thanked the <br /> Commission for the funding it had allocated. She advised that the Easter Seals Community <br /> Integration Group (CIG) had served more participants than ever before. The program served <br /> individuals with disabilities ages 18 -22. Twenty-one individuals participated in the program, two <br /> (2) of them successfully graduated the program. Ten (10) of the participants were Pleasanton <br /> residents. This was double the original goal. The program helps participants transition from <br /> high school to adulthood and provides a wide array of community-based volunteer, employment, <br /> recreation, leisure, and post- secondary education opportunities. <br /> Ms. Reeve provided details about the program. She advised that it is an after - school program <br /> during the school year and all day during summer months. <br /> ECHO Housing /Housing Counseling Services and Senior Reverse Mortgage Counseling <br /> (Latricia Airo) — advised that ECHO met its goals for providing services. CDBG funds allowed <br /> ECHO to complete 460 units of services to 382 unduplicated client households. ECHO <br /> completed 100% of its total service goal and provided fair housing counseling and mediation, <br /> tenant/landlord counseling and mediation, rental assistance, home seeking and shared housing <br /> counseling and placement services. <br /> Mr. Erickson provided detailed information regarding the relationship between the City of <br /> Pleasanton and ECHO. He advised that ECHO provides a wide scope of services. Ms. Airo <br /> provided information on the services provided and how people were able to learn about it by <br /> ECHO. She also advised that if unable to provide appropriate services ECHO does refer people <br /> to other suitable agencies. Additional information about the Home Equity Reverse Mortgage <br /> Counseling service was also provided by Ms. Airo. <br /> The Commission was informed by Mr. Erickson that the City of Pleasanton usually allows ECHO <br /> to carry over any unspent funds that remain for the Housing Counseling and Legal Services <br /> programs. <br /> Legal Assistance for Seniors /Legal Services for Seniors (Francel D'Andrea and Christine Boils) <br /> — informed the Commission that Legal Assistance for Seniors did meet its goals during the year <br /> for providing free legal assistance to seniors. A total of 130 hours of free direct legal services <br /> were provided to 32 Pleasanton seniors. The program is ongoing and very successful and is <br /> measured by the number of seniors served as well as the outcome of the cases. <br /> Ms. Boils stated that she has been providing services in Pleasanton for approximately two years. <br /> She and Ms. D'Andrea provided information about the advice that is provided. Appointments run <br /> approximately 30 minutes and there is always a waitlist. Approximately 70% of clients are low - <br /> income. Some home visits are conducted. <br /> Commissioner Roby and Chairperson Nagler discussed the waitlist comment and confirmed that <br /> needs were being met and there wasn't a staffing problem.
