BACKGROUND The original Naming Opportunities and Donor Recognition Plan was designed to solicit donations and provide a consistent method for recognizing donors. As discussed at the July 18, 2006 City Council meeting, the PCAF, Civic Arts Commission and staff have developed an Updated Plan with monetary recommendations for each gift level and a corresponding method of donor recognition. DISCUSSION The PCAF has had success in their fundraising efforts by providing various giving opportunities. Although additional fundraising and recognition opportunities may be explored further, the PCAF recommended focusing on developing Giving Levels, Major Naming Opportunities, Major Sponsorships, Other Naming Opportunities and campaigns for the purchase of theater seats and or commemorative bricks. The PCAF is recommending tiered giving levels. All donors contributing to a naming opportunity of at least $5,000 or more will be recognized at the appropriate level, on a permanent Donor Recognition Wall to be displayed in a prominent, central location in the Grand Lobby as discussed later in this report. Special design features will correspond to the level of donation as outlined below: Giving Levels • $5,000 — $9,999 Donor • $10,000 — $24,999 Patron • $25,000 — $49,999 Benefactor • $50,000 — $99,999 Sustaining Partner • $100,000 — $249,999 Leadership Circle • $250,000 Founder's Circle Donors are given the opportunity to name significant areas and or amenities within the Firehouse Arts Center and all will be recognized with signage installed on or near the respective area /amenity. A summary of the Major Naming and Sponsorship Opportunities, current donors and named areas of the Firehouse Arts Center is included in Attachment 2. Major Naming Opportunities are defined as gifts from $100,000 and up and Major Sponsorship Opportunities include the option to sponsor the purchase of theater lighting and sound systems. Other Naming Opportunities (previously called Other Areas) are defined as donations ranging from $25,000 to $50,000. This category simplifies the original donor recognition plan's vision for naming other areas in the facility (Attachment 1). Donors associated with each area will be recognized with plaques installed at each location. The PCAF is recommending that the art gallery be named the Harrington Gallery in honor of Nancy and Gary Harrington. The Harringtons have contributed three (3) major Page 2 of 4
