THE CITY OF 11 <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> PLEASANTONo <br /> September 7, 2010 <br /> Parks and Community Services <br /> TITLE: RATIFICATION OF THE UPDATED NAMING OPPORTUNITIES /DONOR <br /> RECOGNITION PLAN FOR THE FIREHOUSE ARTS CENTER AND <br /> CONTRACT WITH JILL TURMAN IN THE AMOUNT OF $28,400 TO <br /> FABRICATE THE DONOR RECOGNITION WALL AND NAME PLATES <br /> SUMMARY <br /> During the July 18, 2006 City Council meeting, the City Council designated the <br /> Firehouse Arts Center as the exclusive name of the City's downtown arts facility; <br /> approved the Naming Opportunities and Donor Recognition Plan (Attachment 1) as <br /> proposed by the Pleasanton Cultural Arts Foundation (PCAF); and invited the PCAF to <br /> return in the future with an updated Naming Opportunities and Donor Recognition Plan <br /> to include giving levels and recommendations for donor recognition at each level. The <br /> PCAF has completed the Naming Opportunities and Donor Recognition Plan Update for <br /> the Firehouse Arts Center (Updated Plan). Artist Jill Turman, designer and fabricator of <br /> the main entrance signage to the Firehouse Arts Center, has been selected to design <br /> the Donor Recognition Wall and ancillary signage that will provide an artistic visual <br /> recognition of donor names. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Ratify the updated Naming Opportunities and Donor Recognition Plan for the Firehouse <br /> Arts Center as proposed by the Pleasanton Cultural Arts Foundation; and the contract <br /> with artist Jill Turman to fabricate and install the proposed Donor Recognition Wall, <br /> ancillary signage and related features in the Firehouse Arts Center. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The cost for fabrication and installation of the Donor Recognition Wall and ancillary <br /> signage is not to exceed $28,400. There will be incremental costs involved with <br /> providing additional name plaques and /or signage, as subsequent donations are <br /> received. Funds are available in the Public Art Acquisition Fund for this project and are <br /> included in the FY 2009/10 Budget. Upon ratification of this contract by Council, these <br /> funds will be carried forward to the FY 2010/11 Budget to fund this expenditure. <br />
