In General, no change to the local sewer rate <br />structure has been proposed. <br />However, in discussion with City staff there are some changes being implemented that will <br />impact the Townhouse customers, Ruby Hills customers, and those customer that qualify for the <br />low income or senior discount program. The townhouse customers will be charged the single <br />family rate instead of the condo rate to be in compliance with the regional rates. Ruby Hills <br />customers will be charged the current local sewer rate of $21.70 as the City operates and <br />maintains the sewer collection system for these customers. The low income and senior program <br />will be funded through the general fund as a result of Prop. 218. In addition, the discount will <br />only apply to the local sewer rate and those customers whose water consumption is less than 40 <br />Ccf during the bi- monthly billing period. <br />Summary of the Local Sewer Rate Study <br />The development of the proposed rate designs completes the local sewer rate study. At this time <br />it is recommended that the City adjust the local sewer rates to meet the future capital needs to <br />prudently fund the utility's replacement needs. The proposed CPI adjustments will be sufficient <br />for the next few years; however, future rate increases will be necessary to adequately fund the <br />local sewer utility on a financially stable basis. <br />Executive Summary ES-6 <br />City of Pleasanton Local Sewer Rate Study <br />
