3. Finance District Formation and Development $22,000
Grant funding in this program will be used for a customized website for
Pleasanton's CaliforniaFirst finance program. The remainder will be transferred
to another project due to subsequent grant approval from the CEC to pay for the
formation of CaliforniaFirst.
4. ARRA Application Assistance $16,000
The City used consulting services to prepare and submit its application for ARRA
funds.
5. Climate Action Plan Development $165,000
This portion will be used to hire a consultant to work with the community over the
next twelve months to develop our climate action plan.
6. Energy and Sustainability Manager $235,000
This portion of the grant is designed to sustain the progress that we have
realized so far by dedicating a full time manager who will continue efforts in all
these important programs. This will also allow the City to pursue many other
grants and programs that have not been possible to date.
7. Municipal Solar Installation Pleasanton P.D. $72,484
This project will fund a solar installation at the Pleasanton Police Department
increasing the renewable energy sites in the City.
8. Water Conservation $50,000
The final portion of the grant will be used to leverage a more comprehensive
conservation program by utilizing more staff time to develop and track the
program.
The initial funding was received in November of 2009 which allowed us to complete the
draft EELS document outlining our 18 strategies. The final funding was appropriated in
March of 2010 and we are moving rapidly with the ramp up of the rest of the programs
listed in the eight areas indentified.
Green Economy Group
The City has been participating in an ad hoc Green Economy Group. The group's goal
and mission is to:
Be the catalyst for change and advocacy at all levels for the new Tri- Valley sustainable
GREEN economy.
This group holds promise for the future in bringing together a collaborative group of
stakeholders in the tri- valley including business, education, unions, residents,
legislators, government, conservationists, and environmentalists. The focus is to
ensure that we take action now to change both the environmental and economic path
we are on so that our community can become sustainable in the 21 Century. The
group meets the first Wednesday of the month at 9 AM at various locations around the
Valley.
