These
are concerns I have, when extending hours of a bar /dine club. In the past, my neighbors
and I have had some of these concerns to clean up after.
I've been at my location for 20 years, I'm a long time resident of 54 years in Pleasanton
and I've seen many a bars in this town, now a city, and one thing they all had in common
was a neighborhood complaint, of how they had policed themselves to try to keep the
neighborhood clean. If you recall, a bar /dine club called Union Jack located on Main St,
had many of these problems, which contributed to the closure of Union Jack. Neighbors
around Union Jack had complained about many of the same type of concerns that I have.
Union Jack promised to police their area, well they did not. The Red Coat has done a
good job keeping underage drinking out of their store and that is to be applauded, as well
as rowdiness. The policy, smoking away from store front area, is a problem. They need
to keep smoking, in a designated smoking area. When smokers smoke outside my store,
the smell gets in. I believe there is an ordinance that states to keep smoking 20 feet from
a front door of a business. I should not have to ask anyone smoking, to move to their
designated area.
St Marys is a great neighborhood, it has great restaurants and small businesses' on this
street, it has history and personality, let's not demean this beautiful block of Pleasanton
with the noise, garbage, and disrespect.
Thank you for reading this letter.
SUPPLEMENTAL WIATERfAL
Al Lopez Provided to the Planning Commission
Owner Al's Flair Design After Distribution of Packet
Date Distributed :_.4. /t/ADT
