I am the Office Manager for a business located next door to
Redcoats.
Since there is no smoking allowed in their building, there are constantly people smoking, inebriated,
talking loudly, and leaving cigarette butts in front of our building. They also use the ledge right outside
of our office window as a sitting/smoking area. The smell of cigarette smoke drifts into our office
whenever the front door is opened. It's becoming difficult for a business office to function with these
disturbances. We have had to ask several times for their customers to move elsewhere. It's especially
hard when we can't even hear our customers on the phone because of the loud banter outside of our
window.
Our neighbors on the other side, Mr. Mrs. Finch, have been kind enough to sweep up the mess left by
Redcoats customers on the weekends since we are not open then. When the Finch's have approached
Redcoats voicing their similar concerns, they have been told that they only have to clean their property,
not adjacent properties. Since they are the cause of the disturbances and mess, I feel they should take
some responsibility in the clean up.
I'm no expert on codes, but isn't there something on the books that limits smoking near buildings that
are open for business? If so, is there any way that the city can enforce? Your consideration of this
matter would be greatly appreciated.
Re ectfully Submitt
4 t
4/ UfPIL Mt— P! 6 C Y1/IA')-
Paula Authier Provided M t the Planning C ommissiOf
Alter Distribution at Packet
C
Pleasanton, CA 94566 Date Distributed:w
