Page 1 of
Maria Hoey
From: Debra P Donald
Sent: Wednesday, November 18, 2009 9:09 AM
To: Maria Hoey
Subject: Redcoats Application
I live downtown and am generally in favor of allowing later hours for businesses. However, I have been reading
comments in the Weekly and listening to people who frequent Redcoats and am very concerned about the
underage drinking. The PW forum has several threads about the permit request, one of which currently has NINE
comments, from different people, all detailing the lack of ID verification.
Redcoats recently served excess alcohol to two men, not underage, who later committed a hate crime while
beating up a taxi driver. If the bar has no intent to monitor age or excess amount of alcohol intake how can you
even consider granting longer hours for music? Clearly this place has attracted a rowdy and uncontrolled crowd.
That sort of thing needs to be monitored by the people in charge of the bar and restaurant. They have chosen not
to do that. They have chosen to allow fake IDs and failed to verify IDs. Please do not consider allowing
additional hours until they fully comply with the laws. This is just another Union Jack situation which is certainly
not the way to pick up business in the downtown area.
Your reply and comments will be appreciated.
Debbie Donald
SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL
Provided to the Planning Commission
After Distribution of Packet
Date Distributed: Or ei
11/18/2009
