1081 <br />Madsen seconded by Councilman Amaral and carried by the vote of the Councilmen present-Ai•*&zix-�6i.%' <br />was that the sum of ?665.41, which had been borrowed from the general fund <br />be returned to that fund from the Municipal Improvement Bond Pund and the 1929 Municipal <br />Improvement Bond 3'und. <br />Councilman Amaral of tl-e Laws and Judiciary Department then presented"An Ordinance <br />Providing A System for the Assessment, Levy and Collection of Tow n.Taxes .' Atto m ey <br />Nilson Mew took the occasion to read the new ordinance and to explain to the Council <br />various sections of same. At the completion of the reading a4 the explaination,Council- <br />man Amaral moved that the original ordinance be filed. His motion was seconded by Council- <br />man Madsen and with all of the Councilmen present in favor of same. <br />Councilman Madsen of the Public Utilities Committee reported on the Geo. Kolb, <br />matter regarding water service and-his refusing to pay bills owed and what had taken <br />place as regards shutting off his service and compelling Idr. Kolb to seek water from <br />neighboring property owners. Mr. hiiadsen drew attention to what had taken place <br />previously and lur. Kolb's willingness to -pay what was owing and what had been done to <br />assist him as regards meeting: the,bills. The Clerk was questioned with regards to <br />the matter also and he advised as what the town had done to assist Mr. Kolb. The <br />house conditions of IVIr. Kolb, since his water service was discontinued and since <br />same had been referred to the health officer and an inspection made, the report was <br />givegthat everything was in sanitary condition. <br />Councilman Olesen of the Street and Building Committee reported on Saturday <br />cleaning and the amount of rubbish which the municipality was compelled to haul <br />away. He questioned the right of property owners to deposit in-the street the amount <br />of rubbish etc. which had been the custom of recent weeks and also the deposit of <br />rubbish after the truck had called to haul same away. There was some discussion with <br />regards to this matter and the Street Superintendent, iYanuel M. Rodrigues advised <br />that he thought that the matter would be taken care of satisfactorily and after <br />cleanup week there would be no such demands on the municipality as previously. <br />Discussion followed as regards the annual Clean Up Week and the dates to be set. <br />It was decided that the period Liay 19th to 26th inclusive should be designated <br />as Clean Up Week, that the local papers print notices of same and the customary <br />hand bills be issued. Mr. Rodrigues was questioned with regards to vacant lots <br />and the burning of the grass on same. Mr. Rodrigues advised that there were not <br />as,man�y as previously and he thought that they would be cleaned up within a short <br />time. Councilman IVladsen questioned Attorney Nilson with regards to the fire <br />liability on these lots should 4oini.ng property be affected. Mr. ililson advised <br />that the work should progress under the direction of the property owners etc. and <br />not under the town. Mr. Rodrigues then advised that it was his policy to have <br />the work progress under the direction of the property owners as they were directly <br />responsible for the expense involved. The matter was also referred to the Fire <br />Chief. Mr. Olesen questioned the Clerk with regards to the Holzreiter property <br />and whether anything had been done recently-as regards notifying lair. Holzreiter <br />concerning what was expected of him. The Clerk reported that IUir. Holzreiter <br />had been notified about two months ago. <br />The Clerk brought up the matter of the Town Hall Bond Fund and interest <br />being due June 1st and same amounting to $512.50. He notified the Council that <br />the Bond Fund was short y203.08. Resolution No. 1505 was then introduced , <br />authorizing the Clerk to borrow from the General Fund and transfer from the Town <br />Hall Bond Fund the sum of $203.08. This resolution was adopted on motion of <br />Councilman Madsen, seconded by Councilman Iharal and with all the councilmen <br />present in favor of same. Resolution No. 1506 authorizing the payment of the <br />20th 'T'own Hall Bond amounting to '$500.,00 and one coupon of interest © $12:50 <br />was adopted on motion of Councilman Madsen seconded by Councilman Olesen and <br />carried by the vote of all present. In connection with this resolution the Clerk <br />advised that the Town Treasurer had advised that this bond and interest concluded <br />the .final Oayment on the Town Hall. <br />The following resolutions were then presented: <br />Resolution No. 1504 -- Authorizing the payment of the salaries of the municipal <br />.officers for the month of April $745.00 <br />No. 1507 -- Authorizing -the payment of x;5.00 each for services performed <br />by the officers at the municipal election held on Mord ay, <br />April 9th. <br />No. 1.508 -- Authorizing the Clerk to cancel License No. 57- -Giant Potato <br />�.
