1082 <br />The Clerk then advised the Council that at the first meeting in April it had <br />been decided that at some special meeting in the future it would meet with represent- <br />atives of the California Highway Commission with regards to the gas tax fund which <br />had been allocated to Pleasanton. Accordingly it was decided that the Council <br />would meet on Monday evening, Ida.y 14th to consider the ordinance which had been <br />passed at the meeting and also to meet representatives of the California tighway <br />Commission. <br />.'J"IJ <br />On account of the length of the meeting it was decided to lay over the matter <br />of Ashton Britten's report until some future meeting. Mayor Orlof f suggested that <br />in addition to the Council referring to this report that arrangements should be <br />made that the Council as a body should inspect the sewer farm. <br />AIr. Uliano appeared before the Board with regards to his poolroom license. <br />He asked the Board to cancel same because he was not using the tables in the pool- <br />room. He advised that he did not have a place to put them otherwise they coo uld <br />have been removed from the poolroom before this. The matter was taken under <br />advisement and referred to Councilman Amaral for investigation and report. <br />There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 11:45 o'clock to <br />meet in special session next Monday evening, May 14th at 8 o'clock. <br />i <br />,C <br />Approved: <br />Mayor <br />Pleasanton, California, May 14, 1934. <br />er <br />• <br />The Town Council of the Town of Pleasanton was called to order at 8 o'clock o.n <br />the above written date with mayor Thomas Orloff presiding. Present at roll call were <br />Councilman Madsen, Amaral, Olesen, and Orloff and absent Councilman Apperson. <br />The Clerk brought to the attention of the Council a request from the, Alisal Improve- <br />ment Club asking for the use of Loy—inley Park for a barbecue on Sunday, June 3rd, the <br />occasion being the Tenth anniversary of the Club. The clerk then recommended*to the <br />Council that something be done toward working out a plan for the use of McKinley Park <br />so that in case anyone inquired about the place that something would be known as to <br />who was using same. Mayor Orloff answered the clerk and informed him that the date <br />of June 3rd had been allowed to the Amador Valley Union High School Alumni Association <br />for an open air meeting and gathering.- He also spoke with regards to the park being <br />used and some schedule being kept on hand for reference. Some discussion among the <br />Council members followed and it was decided that the use of'the m rk should be taken <br />up with either the Mayor or the Clerk and then the Mayor or the Clerk nothing each <br />other.as to whom desired the use of the park and the dates. It developed du ring <br />the meeting that the following dates had been taken: Sunday, May 20th, Alameda County <br />Farm Bureau; Saturday, May 26th, Stockmen's Association; Sunday, May 27th, Frank <br />Vargas Jr.; Sunday, June 3rd, Amador Valley High School Alumni Association. Being <br />that the dates of June 10th and 17th were open, the clerk was instructed to get <br />in touch with the officers of the Alisal Improvement Club and to ascertain from <br />them the date which would be accen_table to them since the date of June 3rd had been <br />taken. <br />The clerk then brought up Ordinance No. 169 which had been read at the last <br />meeting and which had been set over to this meeting for final action. It was acdered <br />that the second reading of the ordinance should be dispensed with, this being done <br />on motion of Councilman Amaral, seconded. by Councilman Olesen and with all present <br />in favor of same. On motion of councilman Amaral, seconded by Councilman Olesen <br />and with all in favor of same, Ordinance No. 169 was adopted. . <br />Councilman Madsen reported to the Council that City Engineer,Hugh Sinclair, <br />had passed away on Sunday May 13th and would be buried on Tuesday May 15th. It was <br />decided that the flag at the City Hall should be at half mast during the hours <br />of the funderal and that the members of the Council should attend the services. <br />Also that the clerk should write to Mrs. Sinclair and express to her the sympathy <br />of the council of the passing of her husband. . <br />Mr. Nelson representing the State Highway commission was present to discuss <br />the fund of $1400.00 available from the commmssion for street improvements within <br />the municipality. Mr. Nelson was introduced to the Council by Clerk Schween who <br />had previously met and talked with Mr. Nelson. Mr. Nelson then advised as <br />regards all funds and how it might be spent after which he answered numerous <br />questions propounded by the Council. Some discussion fb llowed as to where the <br />work should be undertaken and it was generally agreed that St. Marys Street should <br />be repaired and improved since it was the first street to receive attention within <br />the municipality, and also work on the lower end of Iti3ain Street received consideration. <br />
