1057
Chief of Police Delucchi took up with the Council the matter of allowing the
Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company to take care of the police alarm system
recently installed by the municipality. He pointed out the company was operating
the system from the local telephone office, over their own telephone lines in
connection with the lines set up by the Town, and that, the telephone company
preferred to install its own . equipment to,handle the system without expense to
the municipality providing the Council was willing to allow same to be done.
After a short discussion of the matter- it was felt-that probably it would be
more advantageous to allow the Telephone Company to install its own equipment
and accordingly Mr. Delucchi was instructed to advise the Council to that
affect.
At the request of Mayor Pickard, Clerk Schween was asked to discuss
for the Council the trip which he and Mayor Pickard had made to the Civil
Works Administration director, the Alameda County Civil; Works Administration
Program Chairman, and County Surveyor Hamilton. In Addition to these calls
Mr. Schween advised the Council with regards to what had taken place in
Pleasanton with reference to registering local workers for work within the
city and on county projects. Discussion followed among the Council members
with regards to local projects and those generally felt would be acceptable
to the committee at headquarters and which in all probability would be
allowed the municipality to carry on., namely cleaning, marking and painting
streets, trimming trees and ditching. Councilman Madsen felt that the
projects regarding drainage on certain streets of the municipality and also
the putting in of the bulk head along the Arroyo Del Valle Creek should be
presented. It was decided that such Councilmen as could do so should meet
with the Clerk and the Superintendent of Street on the following afternoon
at the City Hall and prepare the applications for submission to the Civil Works
Administration Committee in Oakland not later than Wednesday, December 6th.
Mr. Britten appeared before the Council and introduced Mr. .Scott who
presented a proposition to the Council for the installing of a new incubator
at the sewer farm. Following a short discussion among the Council members with
Mr. Scott it was decided to take his suggestions and recommendations under
Advisement .
There being no further business before the Council the meeting adjourned
at 10:45 o'clock to meet in regular session Tuesday'eveni Uanuary--2, 1934
at the usual hour.
/Z
Approved: _- erk
- mo
Pleasanton, California, December 14, 1933.
The Town Council 6f the Town of Pleasanton was called to order in special
session at 7:30 p.m. on the above written date with Mayor A.B.Pickard presider .
Present at roll call were Councilman Madsen, Apperson, Orloff•,•Garatti and Piclard.
The Clerk presented a letter received by Chief of Police Delucchi from the
State Board'of Equalization at Sacramento with regards to Liquor License Applications.
According to advise contained in them the privilege was given the Council to file
objections to the issuance of these license. 4he Council was also advised even
though licenses would be issued for December, 1933, regardless of objections being
filed that it would consider the objections in connection with licenses to be
issued for 1934 when the 1934,applications were filed., The following "On Sale"
Applications were then read:
H. Reimers, 853 Main Street, Pleasanton
Karl Bieler 443 Main Street
Angelo Uliana 742 Main Street
Joe Passeggi, 519 Main Street
Frank J. Lewis, 610 Main Street
A. B.
