-106 <br />to the affect that the Council considered.dthe recommendations as made by Dr. <br />Heinz, City Health Officer, and that the? mprovements ordered should be made <br />with but small expense. The Council expressed itself as being willing�to permit <br />the race track to erect toilets of economical construction providing they were <br />fly- proof. Also that the toilets in the front part of the grounds could be <br />connected up.with'the town sewer. Mr. Madsen reported on a conversation which <br />he had with Mr. Holden and also to the affect that considerable work had been <br />done towards cleaning up the barns at the track, In addition to writing Mr. <br />Heathcote the Clerk advised that if-the Council was so willing that he would <br />-call on Mr. Heathcote at an early date in addition to writing him. The,.Council <br />thought-that might be a good idea and accordingly the ''.Cle rk was instructed to <br />speak to Mr. Heathcote r.egarding certain matters contained'in his letter. <br />November 29th, 1933 - -Dr. I. 0. Church. The letfer 1(as again read to the Council <br />after which Mr. Adamian,who was present in the audience, was <br />presented to the Council. He discussed what he had in mind <br />for disposing of the garbage from the municipality and <br />also told of,the new site on the Antonini property which <br />had been lately secured for the purpose. The Council very <br />willingly assured Mr. Adamian, as long as he disposed of the <br />garbage td the satisfaction of the municipality and the <br />County Health Officer that'he would have fullest <br />co- operation.' The Clerk was instructed to acknowledge <br />Dr. Church's letter. <br />December 2, 1933 - -T. H. Silver, Secretary- Treasurer Pleasanton Fire Department. <br />Discussion followed among the Counc ilmembers, as to the amount <br />to be paid at'this time. On motion of Councilman Orloff <br />seconded by Councilman Madsen and with all present in favor <br />of same the Council went on record as being willing to allow <br />the Fire Department $240.00 for the years 1931 -32 and at <br />some future date to allow for the year 1933.., <br />Councilman Madsen of the Public Utilities Commitee reported that work. had <br />been undertaken to clean the resorvoirs,and in one of them a serious leak'had <br />been given attention. Also that the roof had been r,enailed and other work done. <br />Councilman Orloff of the Laws and Judiciary Committee then-presented two <br />ordinances which w ere read by the Clerk. Ordinance No. 166 which had been <br />ordered re- drafted from a previous meeting was first considered. Discussion <br />among the Council members then followed and it was generally felt that the <br />ordinance as changed fitted the situation better 'than those two previous--ones <br />which had been given their first reading, and accordingly the one presented <br />at the meeting was accepted and its second and final reading set for the next <br />meeting January, 2, 1934. In this ordinance the main section was made to <br />read as follows: "Who carries on, conducts or maintains a restaurant, or <br />lunch counter or other place of business for the serving of..meals or lunches to <br />be consumed upon the premises, provided also that a license under this subdivision <br />shall be entitled to buy and receive delivery of bakery goods from a wholesaler, <br />of bakery goods to be served and sold only with and as a part of a meal or meals." <br />Councilman Orloff then introduced Ordinance No. 168, AN ORDINANCE CONSTITUTING <br />REAL STREET A BOULEVARD, REQUIRING THE OPERATOR OF EVERY VEHICLE TO COME TO A FULL <br />STOP BEFORE ENTERING OR CROSSING SAID STREET AND PROVIDING FOR THE ENFORCEMENT OF <br />THIS ORDINANCE. <br />Councilman Apperson of the Fire Department recommended that 8 rain coats <br />i 1 while coat for the fire chief and 7 black coats) be secured and 8 waterproof <br />hats, together with three electric safety laterns or a total expense of about <br />60.00. He recommended also that upon receipt of the coats that they be <br />stenciled properly in order that the department may be protected against having <br />them stolen or appropriated for other use. There was some discussion among the <br />Council members about ordering the.,?oatt and it was generally felt before placing <br />the entire order that one coat and,-hat should be secured"on approval "for the <br />Councilmen to examine after which the order should be placed. The Clerk was <br />instructed to correspond with the W. S..Darley Co.,at Chicago and have same <br />sent out at an early date. <br />The following resolutions were then presented: <br />Resolution No. 1487 -- Authorizing the payment of the salaries of the municipal <br />officers for the month of November and amounting to $745.00. <br />No. 1486 -- Authorizing the payment of 0147.91 to the Madewell Manufacturing <br />Company for surface pipe purchased during October, said <br />resolution being held up from the previous meeting. <br />Action on these resolutions were then taken as follows: <br />Resolution No. 1486 -- Adopted on motion of Councilman Madsen, seconded by Council- <br />man Orloff and with all present in favor of same. <br />If No. 1487 -- Adopted on motion of Councilman Apperson seconded by Council- <br />man Orloff and with all present in favor of same, excepting <br />Councilman Madsen who voted favorable on all excepting the <br />salary of the Fire Chief on which he voted "No." <br />
