However, Mayor 0xven explained
that this Act was extended to August 15th and that any vacancies
occurring after said date were to remain vacant. Mayor Oxsen also
stated that Mrs. Hall had said that they already had three vacancies
at Komandorski Village and expected two at Kottinger Village within
the next few days. Mayor Oxsen stated that a bill had been passed
by the HouselRepresentative and was now waiting for the Senate's
approval to relieve the freeze. It was suggested by Councilman
Trimingham that Mayor Oxsen send a telegraph to Senator Knowland
asking him to have the Senate pass this bill in order that said
freeze may be relieved.
After considerable discussion regarding types of fire hydrants,
the City Council aut#orized the purchase of 25 No. 122 Greenberg
Single Water Hydrants at $20.25 each and 10 #123 Greenberg Single
Water Hydrants at $22.50. It was also suggested that the second
hand value of old fire hydrants by secured by Mr. Howard, salesman
for s aid hydrants.
Mayor Oxsen also read a note from Lon Irwin wherein Mr. Irwin
requested the City Council for a permit for a driveway at 213
Angela Street. Councilmen Hansen and Trimingham and City Attorney
Bill Gale areto call on Mr. Irwin regarding this matter.
Charles Madsen told the City Council that the Town had about 7
slippery plates covering meter boxes and .advised .the City Council
that it would take about three gallons of material at 8.55 per
gallon to paint these plates to prevent slippage. However, George
Sobiela stated that all concrete meter boxes would be installed
within a very short time, and therefore the matter was closed.
John Amaral appeared before the City Council stating that some
property on Vineyard Avenue, recently divided into lots,`has been
sold and Mr. Amaral desired information regarding some of the lots
in the rear which do not ties into the present sewer line. He
was informed by the City Council that the Town would furnish pumps
to pump back to the sewer line. The Council also stated that they
have already had one cave similar to this one and were expecting
another.
There being no further business the meeting was adjorned at
10 :35 PM.
