35 <br />MAYOR OXSEN called on Civil Defense Coor Earl Trimmingham for a report. <br />Mk.TRIMINGHAM .reported, no changes since his last report. He and his aides have <br />been attending all. Defense Meetings as required and Pleasanton was as well prepared <br />as any other Town could be at this stage. <br />MAYOR OXSEN asked Mr. Trimingham of anything definite had been decided on Auxil- <br />iary Police Badges. <br />MR. TRIMINGHAM stated- that there was nothing definate as yet. <br />Mr Trimingham also reported that the County was using their Auxiliary Police in <br />patrol cars at Santa Rita as part of their training. <br />FIRE CHIEF J. J. AMARAL reported thata nation wide campaign to prevent FIRE <br />was under way to prevent or have essential materials with regard to the Nation- <br />al emergency. The police are to work in close cooperation, watching for pyro <br />maniacs etc. <br />The Mack truck still has to be taken to S. F. to be serviced but that they would <br />have to wait for good weather. <br />Mr. Amaral commended the Council on their action in regards to paying the Firemen <br />as they are rated, in part, for their willingness to serve, etc. and this action <br />would certainly help. <br />Mr. Amaral also reported that the new pull box was in good working order but that <br />it would have to be reset, the rings were too short and too many. <br />STREETS BUILDINGS Councilman Hansen reported that the Council met with'repres- <br />entatives of the P.G. E. to conduct a survey of the trees. Said. survey recom- <br />mends removal of manly of the trees. <br />In conjunction with same, the Women's Improvement Club, requested the Council to <br />replace fifty (50) trees. Following discussion it was decided to figure on <br />twenty five (25) trees at this time; <br />Councilman Hansen also reported that he had been informed by the Women's'Improve- <br />ment Club that, Captain Creel will deliver the Arch Gate to be erected at the <br />City Hall Park. <br />THE CLERK was instructed t o write to the W. P.R. R. 'Co. requesting them to <br />erect curbs and gutters on their city lots at Harrison Angela Streets, as the <br />Council had been petitioned by residents of that neighborhood requesting same. <br />FIRE CHIEF J. J. Amaral .informed the'Council that he had been talking to Mr. <br />Perry of the P. G. E. about meters at the Fire House (installing another) <br />This would save the City approximately $14.00 per year. Cost of installing the <br />second meter would run abour $50:00 <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT CITY HALL Councilman Trimingham reported that the Fire Dept. <br />was doing a fine job and::;that Air. Raid Warning signal was satisfactory, except <br />that signals were too short but could be rectified easily. <br />COUNCILMAN TRIMINGHAM suggested, because of the existing emergency, the Council <br />should consider new rolling equipment right away. <br />Councilman Trimingham'requested.the Clerk to keep a.record of the gas consumption <br />at the City Hall for the furnaRce to ascertain the saving compared to oil <br />heat. <br />Councilmen Hansen Trimingham agreet to get to- gether to draw up specifications <br />for a new pick -up for the Water Dept. <br />PUBLIC UTILITIES Councilman Abrott reported as <br />1 Submitted prices for Lime in truck load lots. <br />2 Submitted price.for extension for lime feeder three phase motor as quoted <br />by the Pacific Builders Inc. as of Nov. 1950 $270.00, instructed to refer to Mr. <br />Ramseier, and place on order. <br />3 Geo. Sobeila purchased the second hand pump, as it was found to be in good <br />shape. This will be operated by the Model "A" motor that we have on hand. <br />4 The control panel at the Sewage Plant had not yet been re-wired-and that <br />Engineer Ramseier would' make the changes himself. <br />5 Mr. Harry Goodridge, ant Engineer, had been contacted and would be glad to do <br />the street curb and gutter work quoted as his fee 7% plus 1% for Inspection. <br />Councilman•Abrott was asked to contact Mr. Goodridge and make a date at his con <br />vienence to meet with the Council. Mr. Goodricr was recommended by County En- <br />gineer Boggs. <br />MAYOR OXSEN dalle late visitors as to their opinion of the proposed 1st Street <br />Bridge. <br />
