Council feels that impeller
should be replacement of the origin-
al.
A11'communications were ordered filed.
MAYOR OXSEN called for opening and reading of sealed Bids for the pipe crossing
under Southern Pacific Railroad Co. at Sewer Farm.
Two Bids were submitted:
McGuire Hester Total Bid i 3,460.00
Underground Construction Co. 11 11 2,806.00
The Clerk was ordered to forward the Bids to Engineer Ramseier for his inspection
and recommendations.
MAYOR OXSEN stated; that before proceeding with the regular business he would
call on the visitors, as they evidently were in attendence for discussion of the
proposed 1st Street bridge.
MR. HERMAN KOLLN addressed the Council and stated, that he was not in favor of
the 1st Street bridge as 1st Street was a residential district and that traffic
by the ball park and school playground would be extra hazaradous. The trucks on
Main Street didn't bother him and lgouldn't see where they were causing traffic
problem. Under the exsisting Nat'l emeregency Mr. Kolln thought it best to drop
the whole matter.
MAYOR OXSEN explained that the Board of Supervisor's and County Engineer Boggs
estimated 30, to $40,000. for the construction of a temporary bridge at 1st St.,
while a new Main Street bridge was under construction but upon examining the
span and fill that was necessary felt that a permanent bridge would be more
appropriate, as Pleasanton would need another Main Street for future expansion.
Thereby diverting all the avialable funds to that bridge at this time.
COUNCILMAN TRIMINGHAM stated that the trucks were driving customers off of Main
Street because of parking and traffic hazards.
MRS LEHMAN addressed the Council, saying that people of the Town would not pro-
test until the taxes went up. With wa?coming on and government taxes going high-
er everyday that soon we won't be able to pay.
Mrs. Lehman asked if an underpass would be put in at the school for the children's
safety and who is going to pay for lst Street construction etc.
COUNCILMAN TRIMINGHAM answered that the County would; cover cost of construction
of bridge and this will not cost the City any money. And suitable Safety measures
would be taken at Grammar School.
MAYOR OXSEN stated that he, could not see where the first Street bridge was going
to harm the City in any way and that it was his honest beleif and conviction that
it would definately help the Town now and for .the future.
Upon motion of Councilman Trimingham, seconded by Councilman Hansen and approved
by all Councilmen present approved ka payment to the Fire Dept, for fires in
town as billed.
THE CLERK was instructed to write Walker Process Equipment Co. informing them
their bill had been honored and would be paid at the next regular meeting.
HEALTH OFFICER DAVIS thanked the Pleasanton Police Dept. for assisting him in
picking up the cheese in Pleasanton, as ordered by State Health Dept.
COUNCILMAN HANSEN asked if a check had been made at the cheese factory recent-
ly as to the cleanliness of the creek bank. Mr. Davis said he had not -but would
check into it.
