Fire Departments emergency preparedness manager will manage the DC. Support of
activities stemming from the DC's planning activities will come from the member
agencies. The member agencies will produce their respective plans and exercises that
will tie into the City of Pleasanton's evolving emergency plans to meet our collective and
collaborative groups overall goal of creating a disaster resilient community.
The Citizen Corps Council (CCC) is comprised of those City program managers of the
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Neighborhood Watch, Volunteers -in-
Police Services (VIPS) programs who oversee their respective organization's
volunteers. In addition, with the City of Pleasanton's City Council approval of this body,
the City Manager will be enabled to designate a City representative to the CCC. During
planning and exercise development by the DC, adjunct members may attend CCC
planning meetings. It is anticipated that the January 2010 will be the initial meeting of
this body. The volunteer program managers will be supported by members of their
volunteer group. Overall, emergency preparedness begins with the individual and
expands to their family, neighborhood, and community. The CCC will enable
coordination in disseminating existing emergency preparedness information and
outreach programs developed through our CERT program to our Neighborhood Watch
and VIPS community. In addition, the outreach activities will result in the CCC growing
its cadre of volunteers who can be available to assist the City of Pleasanton when
emergencies /disasters occur in staffing points of dispensing sites (PODS).
Becoming an emergency preparedness partner with the Alameda County Public Health
Department (ACPHD) provides our city with a voice in public health emergency planning
with an opportunity to represent the interests of Pleasanton. ACPHD is ready to provide
our community with the planning, training, exercises, supplies and available
medications /vaccines needed to ready ourselves for the potential of a pandemic flu
season. When activated to respond, the ACPHD will deliver PODS to locations
designated by the city. Concurrently, the city will activate its pandemic plan and make
available personnel to staff the PODS. Affiliated volunteers may be called upon to
assist city staff to operate the PODS. The PODS may be in operation during normal
business hours and will provide needed /available medications /vaccinations to our
citizens and public.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approve. my:
‘L
Bill Cody David P.
