(24 C.C.R.), and including by reference the Uniform Building Code, 1997 Edition. 20.12.040 Enforcement - is amended Section 20.12.040 of the Pleasanton Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: This Chapter and the adopted Uniform Plumbing Code shall be enforced by the Chief Building Official of the City acting either directly or through properly authorized agents acting within the scope of the particular duties delegated to them by the Director of Public Works. Section 20.12.050 Interpretation The language used in this Chapter and in the adopted Uniform Plumbing Code is intended to convey the common and accepted meaning familiar to the plumbing industry. Should any question arise, the Chief Building Official is authorized to determine the intent and meaning of any provision of this Chapter. Such determinations shall be made, in writing, and a record shall be kept in the office of the Public Works Department, which record shall be available to interested parties. Section 20.12.060 Variances: The Chief Building Official shall have the power to grant a variance to any of the provisions of the adopted Uniform Plumbing Code upon application, in writing, by the affected party or his duly authorized agent, when there are practical difficulties in the way of carrying out the strict letter of the code; provided, that the spirit of the code shall be observed, public health, safety and welfare secured and substantial justice done. The particulars of such variance and the decision of the Chief Building Official shall be entered in the records of the Public Works Department of the City and a signed copy furnished the applicant. The granting of any variance shall not be construed to imply or fix any liability on the part of the City or any officer or employee thereof for any damages to persons or property by reason of such variance. 48
