Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan Initial Study
Less Than
Significant
Potentially Impact With Less Than
Significant Mitigation Significant No
Issues Impact Incorporated Impact Impact
14. Recreation
a) Would the project increase the use of existing n I X
neighborhood and regional parks or other recreational
facilities such that substantial physical deterioration of the
facility would occur or be accelerated?
b) Does the project include recreational facilities or require
the construction or expansion of recreational facilities
which might have an adverse physical effect on the
environment?
Environmental Setting
The City has developed parks throughout Pleasanton. Within Pleasanton are 16 community (20
including joint school facilities) and 26 neighborhood parks run by the City. In addition, the East Bay
Regional Park District runs two regional parks Pleasanton Ridge Park and Shadow Cliffs Recreational
Area.
Significance Criteria
The impact questions above constitute the significance criteria for this environmental topic.
Discussion of Checklist Items
Less- than Significant Impacts. Development of the trails, bicycle routes, and sidewalks identified in the
proposed Master Plan could increase use of existing parks or other recreational facilities that would be
connected by these routes. However it is not anticipated that substantial physical deterioration of any
facility would occur or be accelerated due to implementation of the proposed Master Plan.
The proposed Master Plan would not expand recreational facilities except for the trails, bicycle routes,
and sidewalks identified in the Plan. In addition, the proposed Master Plan would not result in
increased park usage not planned for and accounted for by the City.
Less Than
Significant
Potentially Impact With Less Than
Significant Mitigation Significant No
Issues Impact Incorporated Impact Impact
15. Transportation /Traffic Would the project:
a) Cause an increase in traffic which is substantial in relation 1 1 X
to the existing traffic load and capacity of the street
system (i.e., result in a substantial increase in either the
number of vehicle trips, the volume to capacity ratio on
roads, or congestion at intersections)?
b) Exceed, either individually or cumulatively, a level of 1 I X
service standard established by the county congestion
management agency for designated roads or highways?
Revised 9/4/09 28 9/4/2009
