Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan Initial Study
Less Than
Significant
Potentially Impact With Less Than
Significant Mitigation Significant No
Issues Impact Incorporated Impact Impact
13. Public Services
a) Would the project result in substantial adverse physical
impacts associated with the provision of new or
physically altered governmental facilities, need for new or
physically altered governmental facilities, the construction
of which could cause significant environmental impacts,
in order to maintain acceptable service ratios, response
times or other performance objectives for any of the
public services:
Fire protection? X
The Livermore Pleasanton Fire Department serves Pleasanton, providing both fire and emergency
medical services. The City of Pleasanton Police Department provides police services within the city.
Significance Criteria
The impact questions above constitute the significance criteria for this environmental topic.
Discussion of Checklist Items
Less than Significant Impacts. The City of Pleasanton Police Department would continue to provide
police services throughout the city, including to the proposed trails, bicycle routes, and sidewalks
identified in the proposed Master Plan. Although there could be some increase in crime along these
routes, the proposed Master Plan would not result in development not previously planned or accounted
for by police service providers. Implementation of the proposed Master Plan could result in a minor
increase in emergency medical services along the proposed trails.
For a discussion of parks and recreation, see the discussion, below, under 14. Recreation.
No Impacts. The proposed Plan would be expected to add trails, bicycle routes, and sidewalks
throughout Pleasanton. No additional need for fire fighting services is expected to result and no
impacts on the Fire Department for these services would result due to the proposed Master Plan or its
implementation. The proposed Master Plan would have no impacts on the Pleasanton Unified School
District as it would not result in an increase in population. Note that some of the planned pathways
could accommodate children and their parents traveling to and from school.
Revised 9/4/09 27 9/4/2009
